Hi all,
I am at a loss here: I’ve recently purchased the T.Flight HOTAS 4 mainly to play Flight Simulator, but I can’t get the joystick to install properly. I’m sure I’ve tried almost everything to get it working, but for some reason it doesn’t. The problem is that when I plug the joystick into a USB port it connects but a second later it disconnects and it never comes back. What is really strange is that other devices work fine on that (and other) USB port. But even more strange is that the joystick connects fine on an older computer my kids use.
Things I’ve tried already to narrow the diagnostic process down:
-
use a different USB port (both 2.0 and 3.0)
-
connect the joystick to another PC
-
install the latest driver for the joystick
-
install an older driver for the joystick
So, I guess there is nothing wrong with the device, the cable or the USB ports, but for some unknown reason it won’t connect to my gaming PC.
Please help as I am out of ideas and hate the idea that I spend money on a fine looking joystick I can’t use.
Kind regards,
Davy
I also use the Hotas4 and the only problems I’ve had have been easily corrected by re-installing the drivers and calibrating. But you don’t appear to be able to get that far.
If you follow the Thrustmaster installation instructions you should NOT connect the joystick until the drivers have been installed so try uninstalling the drivers (from Windows Control Panel), unplug the Hotas4, reboot and start again. The driver installation will tell you when to plug it back in. Make sure you’re using the latest drivers - get them from the Thrustmaster website.
Have you got drivers for any other joysticks/controllers installed? May be a conflict.
As it works on another computer I wouldn’t think it’s the joystick, so maybe you have a Windows problem. What version are you using and is everything up-to-date - not trying to teach Granny to ■■■■ eggs but checkout Windows update.
Failing that try contacting Thrustmaster support, see if they have any ideas.
Hi Terry,
Thanks for your response.
Indeed, calibrating is one step beyond my possibilities now. I can’t get the joystick to stay connected. I did all the steps you suggested: installing the driver before plugging in the device and my Win 10 version is up to date.
Like you state, I also don’t think it is the joystick but something Windows related. I have already contacted Thrustmaster but apparently they don’t answer as quick as you do
Cheers
