Thank you.
Check out some reviews of it - I think one place where it will instantly be apparent how much deeper the simulation is would be when you look at the maintenance and engine performance pages of the EFB.
Thanks.
In all honesty I’m not too bothered about failures (they’re nice but I wouldn’t want to pay for them). What I’m seeking is a more immersive flying experience generally: the look, the feel, the sound, etc. If it gives me £28’s worth of that, I’ll be happy. Apparently you feel turbulence far more in this than other GA planes — this is the extra immersion I would be willing to pay for, if it significantly improves the overall experience.
I just wish it wasn’t a type so similar to the Carenado PA-28. I’m struggling to reconcile that with the price, irrespective of the far deeper level of simulation. There’s also the issue of my not being a pilot IRL, meaning I have no true perception of the superior accuracy.
Conversely, I’m lead to believe A2A’s PA-24 is objectively THE best GA aircraft on the market.
This is one of those very rare moments where the vast majority of this community comes to a consensus. I do believe that while the two types seem similar on the outside, the cockpits are vastly different (as much as a single engine GA piston can be).
One particular thing I love about the Comanche is learning to use its not-so-capable autopilot. Its limitations really make flying with it more hands-on in, my opinion, the best way.
Hands-on is great, but I also like to use automation on longer legs, when conditions don’t require constant monitoring.
Does it take advantage of MSFS’ icing?
It’s 0404 here in the UK and the sale runs for 14 days from the 17th July — meaning it should end any minute now — so I grabbed her! I’d just like to thank the helpful members of this community for helping me spend even more money in what’s shaping up to be a decent but expensive week…

I went into this wondering if I should spend £21… and came out of it having spent over £28!
But you guys certainly know a decent aircraft when you find one and the reviews are incredibly hard to ignore. I’ve been looking for just ONE good GA aircraft for my hangar for a while so might as well make it the very best!
Actually the Aerostar is even better if you are looking for something different to the Archer class.
The JF just has more character and a better feeling in vr as far as I’m concerned, Carenado just feels sterile
Congrats and I think it was the right decision. You should be flying the best of the best when you spend your time off the big airliners for some tasty GA VFR.
Without a doubt you will enjoy it so much. There are only very few planes that really give you the authentic feeling we are seeking when flying GA and the Comanche is considered no.1 by many people and rightly so.
Pro tip: Don’t forget to clean your spark plugs frequently. You’ll notice during run-up when you missed it once again… ![]()
The correct decision ![]()
As I said… you can thank me later! ![]()
In spite of initially being unable to detect much difference between the Comanche and Dakota, I’m now enjoying flying the former. It’s one of those you have to fly often to truly appreciate. I started her the other day and the engine made a very odd noise before grinding to a halt! Quite frustrating but I wanted realism and I’d say I got it…
I love how the prop actually bends or even breaks apart when you botch your landing!
Question about Carenado Dakota: I like this free airplane. However, for some unexplained reason after I set up my controller profiles (TM Joystick and Bravo Throttle in this case), once I exit MSFS2024 and come back to fly the same plane later, my controller settings have gone back to the settings set for All Airplanes. The sim will not save my settings for this aircraft as it does correctly for all the others. MS Tech was not able to help. For some reason, it is not synching with the server, but it is also retaining the local settings.
Does anyone know what file and where it might be where I may be able to determine the problem and fix it? Does anyone else have this issue (I’d like to think its not some setting I made elsewhere)?
Thanks!
