Just Flight Piper Arrow III looks so good!

I was talking about Asobo and Sim Update 3

Any idea what the difference will be with the Turbo version? Is it just a different engine or is there more to it?

From what I’ve read so far, I think it’s mostly the engine.
Here’s an interesting thread about the RL non-turbo vs. turbo Arrow that discusses performance and maintenance costs:

Different performance, slightly different checklists and the main visual difference is that it will include the T-Tail Arrow IV version and own liveries. Not sure about any changes in the cockpit, looked pretty same to me.

Given the limited impact of the Sim Update 3, I’m pretty optimistic the regular Arrow will be released tomorrow. There’s barely any changes that are of global nature, most are touching specific systems and aircraft. Fingers crossed.

Very interesting reading - thank you!

Different engine manufacturer, the manifold pressure has a limit of 41" and the max RPM is 2575 in the Turbo Arrow IV vs 2700 RPM in the non-turbo III. The Turbo Arrow IV can hold 41" of MP up to 12,000 feet so it will go about 20-25 knots faster (the manual says max speed is 176 TAS) and has a service ceiling of 20,000 feet vs 15,000 feet in the normally aspirated Arrow. The weights are slightly different on the IV. The Turbo Arrow has an electric primer on the panel. I am sure there is other stuff but that’s all I remember right now. The throttle usage is different because it has a fixed waste gate on the Turbo. Instead of pushing the throttle all the way up, it goes up as far as it takes to get 41" of manifold pressure and then no more until every 1000’ of altitude gain or so in the climb. That throttle works similar to a turboprop. Full power can be achieved well before the throttle is all the way forward against the stop. I can’t say what it is like in FS2020 because we don’t have it yet but it was a blast to fly in real life. I’ve flown props to jets and the Turbo Arrow IV is by far one of my favorite airplanes flown.

Thanks for this detailed answer. Makes me really want to fly the turbo now

I will be doing a systems video on it when it comes out similar to the ones I have done for the TBM, C152, and CJ4.

Just to make sure: You are “The Corporate Pilot Dad” on YouTube, right?
Looking forward to the video.

I really enjoyed your Arrow preview video. Looking forward to more.

Me too! Can’t wait for this bird. It will be a great replacement for the A2A Piper Comanche that I used for my world tour in FSX and P3D. I’m still only halfway around the world after 5 years. Making my way up the eastern coast of Australia.

The implied fidelity of this aircraft is going to have me hitting my Oblivion Express card and although it is slow and essentially basic, I suspect and hope that it will be fun to fly, or rather than fun, satisfying. Daft as it sounds, this should make life harder for the developers, but I like the approach and will support it. I will hit the Arrow IV when available, too. We need a bit of quality.

Thank you. I have been looking forward to the Arrow and the Turbo Arrow IV. When I heard it was being made I about fell out of my chair in excitement. Nothing is worse than an airplane coming out that I have flown, getting it, and it’s terrible. From what I have seen of the Arrow III in the 15 hours I’ve flown it in FS2020 the Turbo Arrow IV will be great.

Just to settle that whole discussion. Here is the quote from the actual store page that is pretty clear:

Anyone buying this PA-28R Arrow III add-on from Just Flight will get a 66% discount on the usual price of the PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV when it is available to buy

Yes, it was already settled.

Yeah, more or less. But it’s good to have it in clearer wording for anyone still wondering.

To be fair, the text has been updated in the meantime, earlier the wording was different that led to the confusion  so it’s good that they rephrased it to match what we’ve said here.

It is released already?

Nope. It’s scheduled to be released today, though. You can sign up to receive an email when it’s released here:
