Just Flight Piper PA-28-161 Warrior II

I don’t use any GPS mods (other than the G1000 mod by WT that is available from the marketplace). I just use the stock, built-in GPS 530…

I will give that a try but will need to reboot FS and remove the mod to do that. You should try the mod though its good. Put it in your community folder.
You can get it here

Will try the default one out for you though.

OK, I deleted my two Garmin mods, rebooted FS and the default stacks still work. I can rotate dials for frequencies and swap them. Both on the 530 and the dual 530/430 versions. Not sure what else to suggest. Maybe a fresh download from JF & reinstall of the Warrior might be in order?
ps. I’ve been through their support so I’m giving your their first support suggestions too!

As noted several times above, if you are using the GNS530 mod, you need to update to the latest version, or the knobs don’t work after SU8.

He says he isn’t running any Garmin mods though. I am and I have the latest and the are working for me. I was just testing out the default GNS 530 system and it seems fine too.

Thanks, I have the marketplace version, and I already uninstalled and re-installed it. Let’s see if anybody else has problems similar to mine…

Have you tried emptying your community folder just in case there is something in there that is conflicting or has some hidden mod for the GNS530 in it. Just rename ‘Community’ to “Community-hidden” and create an empty folder called “Community”. It’s probably worth a go.

Ah I suppose it could somehow be the marketplace version. I bought my copy direct from JF so not an accurate comparison.

EDIT: I’d probably also (just i case) remove the G1000NXi mod too and give it a retry.

Do you have State Saving enabled in the Tablet?
If so disable it and restart MSFS to see if maybe the internal state saving interferes with some state of the GNS530. That happened in the past and was an explaination why some saw weird behavior while others didn’t.

Hi guys, thanks for all your feedback.

My most recent findings: on a freshly loaded MSFS 2020 (first flight) it seems to always work. Subsequent flights, it may or may not work. I would say that on a subsequent hot start the GPS knobs work 75% of the time (to be clear, on a given flight it either works or not, but from flight to flight it may or may not work), on a cold start maybe 25% of the time. The carb heat lever works less often than the GPS knobs.

My community folder is as clean as a virgin (that sounds bad), and that is the reason I switched to the marketplace version of the warrior, to keep the community folder empty. The only thing the community folder contains is Navigraph.

Before switching to the marketplace version I didn’t have the GPS knob problem, but I did have the problem with the carb heat lever (see my post in this thread several months ago).

I tried both state saving on and off, makes no difference as far as I can tell.

I guess only time will tell what is going on…

There has been a common issue, I forget surrounding what, that, a restart of the flight fixes. Try doing that when you run into this problem. I know it fixed something for me, I forget what.

[esc] Restart (instead of Main Menu or the options…)

Yeah if after the flight has loaded just press ESC then re-start and everything should work.

I think this workaround was needed for an issue introduced by an earlier update for MSFS but is fixed for some time now. I had it back then but don’t have any issues like that now.
Also the issue was about displays not working, but @PathlessSpore60 seems to only have issues with the knobs.

Did you contact JustFlight support? Maybe they can help you troubleshoot.

Maybe try installing the free version of the PMS50 GTN750 and see if there the knobs and displays work for you - just to have an additional data point since it’s a different bezel. This won’t solve your issue with the GNS530, but maybe gives a clue about something very basic or being very specific to the GNS530.

What happens if you start cold&dark and then press the Takeoff configuration button on the tablet - does it change anything regarding your issue? You seem to only have issues with Cold&Dark and it’d be interesting if the JustFlight tablet affects this state as well or if it’s something going on with MSFS initial state.

If you hold your mouse over the knobs, do you get a tooltip and does the mouse cursor change but pressing them doesn’t have an effect? Or does it look like there is no active knob/button at all?

If you have the C172 Classic (Steam gauges), there the GNS530 works without issues?

Also: At some point back I had the issue that on a two-monitor setup, the lower right area of the monitor was not accessible to interact with the cockpit, but moving the view allowed this. Not sure if this bug still persists to this day, did not notice it lately.

I tested this once, and it indeed brought the knobs back to life. Hope that work around keeps working…

I have so far resisted installing any mods, for this very scenario (that with mods installed trouble shooting becomes much more complicated). I generally install mods through marketplace only. Is this available on the marketplace?

And, I use the stock 530 every day with the Aerosoft Twotter, no issues whatsoever.

As I’ve stated earlier, when I hit “ready for taxi” it solves the issue of the GPS screen sometimes not powering up, but it does not fix the interaction with the knobs.

Yes, I always get the tooltips when I hover over the knobs, and they highlight. But when turning them there is no sound and no animation of them moving.

Note: I’m in VR, but this is not the issue I reported elsewhere when the VR menu bar is open, that some buttons don’t work. The problems I’m describing here occur even with the VR menu bar closed.

Finally let me add the annunciator lights test button to the list of problems I’m having. It highlights, but I cannot press it/nothing happens when I press it.

Thanks again for the feedback, the “Esc/restart” work around seems to work (fingers crossed)

EDIT: Cycling the avionics master switch off and on also seems to work (bringing back the knobs)!

The issue you describe has been happening to me since November, through the last 2 sim updates. Escape and Restart does alleviate the problem, but I’ve sent 2 trouble tickets to JF about the issue and all I’ve gotten back is that it’s the sim’s fault, not theirs.

The biggest challenge with this issue is that we have been unable to reproduce it here. Until I’m able to do that, it’s a case of trying various things in the hope that one will provide a solution, which is never an efficient way of working.

We have been working on this ever since the first report came in and there are a couple of possible clues in the most recent feedback so hopefully we can find a solution soon.

Off topic - That’s interesting. I wonder if the the Propeller material tweak could fix the static aircraft propeller issue when the sun is shining on them and it looks like they’re spinning? Maybe an addon could fix that problem (or Asobo could).

Thanks for letting us know.

Both the Arrows were updated as well. It looks like there were some common changes among all the Just Flight planes, so all of them got updated at once…

Good to see they are still updating regularly. This is one of the better GA aircraft in the game.
