Hi there, I was just wondering if you guys would keep both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 on one PC or would you guys just have one of the Sims, If so which one would you keep? Any info or help is greatly appreciated. TIA
Personal Comments and Observations
Some of us have to test on both.
Given Seb’s comments about “loading the planet” on yesterday’s Dev Stream, as soon as FS’24 is installed, I’m slimming down Kitty Hawk (FS’20). Everything but the mandatory airplanes and Sim Updates. CU/WU all gone. Maybe it’ll even speed up loading on that version, who knows.
If I upgrade to 2024, I can’t think of a reason why I would ever play 2020 again, so I suspect I would uninstall it. Maybe a bush trip that doesn’t exist on 2024?
The real question is what will I do with this new found Terabyte of space!
I’m just thinking ahead in case you guys are wondering…
I’ll leave both on, for the foreseeable future.

Somethings may not work right away in 2024 that do in 2020 so I’ll want to have the option to fly in 2020

Nice to be able to test certain things, see differences, etc… between the two

With the latest DEV Q&A confirming our log book and hours wont transfer over, I’ll need MSFS2020 to complete my goal (3,000 flight hours). I’m almost there, so will keep flying until I hit it but will want to check out 2024 as well
2020 will remain installed up to the point where 2024 has all the third party product I want to use working well, then it gets uninstalled.
No. I do not see the point of having both installed personally. I’ll be uninstalling FS2020 on the day of FS2024 release. In fact I may even wipe my hard drive and do a fresh install of Windows so that there is no accumulated junk.
Very true, one behemoth of a sim at a time is plenty enough to fettle with.
I think I’ll keep 2020 installed if there’s enough room on my PC, just for the transitional period so that I can ensure that 2024 is up to snuff. New releases always usually have bumps, and I don’t want it to interfere with my flight simulator addiction!!
I’ll keep both, only because my mates I regularly fly with will not be upgrading for a while, and '20 and '24 are not compatible in multiplayer, as I understand.
I will keep the current version and not DL 2024 for at least a year, which should be enough time for them to work out most bugs.
I will keep both until FS2024 matures enough.
It depends. If you fly, for example, PMDG 737/777, or FENIX A320 or other favorite 3-d party aircraft and they are not ready yet for MSS2024 - you continue MSFS2020. The same is for airport and so on.
I’d keep them both on, along with my FSX which is also on the same system.
I’ll keep both on the machine until I have 2024 fully setup and running how I want it. At that point I can’t imagine why I would run 2020 again, so it can go. I’m getting fairly tight on space on my SSD, so delighted to get the space back and avoid the cost of upgrading that.
personally i will delete 2020 if all the optional content in it is available in 2024, like expansion packs, activity content, and the rest.
if in 2024 there any missing, i will keep 2020 with 2024, but this will affect the ability to be in the club for more sim versions beyond 2024, as the content will be splitted among these versions which is very bad. in this bad case scenario, i will keep 2020 and 2024 and thats it for any future versions.
if optional content is presented with each version to download optionally, i will be in the club for any version of flight simulator microsoft introduces.
I will be deleting 2020 prior to installing 2024. If 2024 has problems running on my computer, I will upgrade my computer.
FS2024 is going to be so perfect that nobody will ever have a need to fly 2020 again. I am going to win the State lottery, so I am going to quit my job. The weather is going to be even nicer in the future, so I will never take any precautions like those silly ants, said the grasshopper.
I’m removing 2020 as soon as 2024 is out. No point for me to be running both. 2024 will take a while to get everything tweaked and working properly, plus all the addons that will need to be tested. No time to be messing with 2020. My personal vision of what’s to come.
probably for a while. I think we all have our own preferences as to how we use 2020, fly, etc. So once I can duplicate that in 2024 and the Sim seems stable I will most likely move 2020 to a backup image and focus mainly on 2024.
