ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
The keyboard profile config “Keyboard 2024 Transversal” allows for the UI throughout the sim to be manipulated via keyboard. When switched to “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” or any user profiled based on “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” all UI keyboard commands are gone forcing all interaction to be done by mouse. There are no provisions within the keyboard control mapping to allow for the user to replace them.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes & Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every Time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Go to Settings > Controls > Keyboard and set Keyboard 2024 Transversal
  2. Look at the lower left of the display and see that “ESC Save and Back” & “F Filters : None” are shown on the UI
  3. Change to Keyboard 2020 Transversal
  4. Press the ESC key
  5. Look at the lower left of the display and see that it now only shows “Save and Back” “Filters : None” and the former keyboard commands ESC and F no longer work.
  6. Note that the entire UI wherever there were keyboard commands for this type of functionality is now gone

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
No

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

With Keyboard 2024 Transversal:

With Keyboard 2020 Transversal or any user profile derived from it:
Screenshot 2024-12-15 080606

Note this is what the Keyboard 2024 Transversal profile shows when filtering by “backspace”. Note there is no binding shown in the results that would indicate there is a binding that a user can set for the backspace key to Unbind a control binding in the UI as shown in the first screenshot clip above. Therefore, the user cannot reconfigure any of these bindings and must use a mouse to navigate the UI.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• This issue completely breaks the functionality of the “Certification Tree Zoom Out/In” clicking on any part of it does nothing. It is, apparently, coded to need key bindings.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

In addition to the problems pressing ESC never ever should “go back AND save”. Pressing ESC should only go back, discarding any pending (not saved) changes.
The current bahavior is a breach of an industry wide accepted UI standard and should be adhered to by Asobo (as MS does with their SW be it Winows, Office or whatever).

:exclamation: UPDATE: Described behaviour only if you select the preset “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” or duplicate a profile which is based on the “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” :exclamation:

:white_check_mark: SIM INFORMATION

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator: 2024

  • Version Build Number: 1.1.7.0

  • Game Platform: MS Store

:white_check_mark: ISSUE DESCRIPTION

  1. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
No mods installed. Fresh and clean installation.

  2. Description of the issue:
The button to unbind certain inputs for peripherals (e.g. a Keyboard) can not be reached and there is no way to reach that button, neither there is a possibility to set a keybinding for that.
If the user hovers over a specific control setting (e.g. save custom camera 0), there is no way to click on “Unbind”, because as soon as the user tries to reach the option “Unbind”, it disappears.

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
Awlays and permament. This seems to be the default behaviour.

Last night it was backspace…you hover and press backspace and it would unbind

Thanks for the quick answer. I actually found the issue. I already wrote it at the top.

The issue happens only if you select or create a preset that is based on the “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” preset.
I made a video about that, just in case.

I’m having this issue, even your solution didn’t work either. I could unbind yesterday, today i can’t. Great…

It is still a bug. Many MSFS 2020 users opted to select or create a preset that is based on “Keyboard 2020 Transversal” preset because the 2024 Transversal completely changed key assignments from 2020. DroneSim provided a great explanation, but it is still a bug.

Can this bug please be looked at by a CM and given a feedback-logged status, so it can quickly be moved into the bug-logged status?

We are three months+ into this venture with 2024 and the basic UI is completely lacking any means to be controlled via keyboard when using any keyboard profile based on “2020 Transversal”.

This is unacceptable that this has gone overlooked this long.

This needs to be addressed and is not solved.

One of the reasons that this issue matters is because of the stupid bug where the sim won’t start a flight unless you are fully zoomed out on the world map and/or have TLOD set to 10. Now that I’m using MSFS 2020 keys (because I actually want my camera view CTL keys to just work in the PMDG airliners), I can no longer hit escape to get back to the world map when I forget to zoom out before trying to launch a flight. I don’t have a “joystick button 2” as I don’t have a joystick, and mouse 2 doesn’t seem to be working, so at the moment, I’m stuck waiting an inordinate amount of time for my flight to start and will probably just end up terminating the process and starting over because it will be quicker. Really frustrating…

EDIT: It turns out that even though there is no mouse cursor, if I can manage to find the button, I can click on it to get back, but it is still very annoying.
