Keyboards with rotary encorders

I didn’t want to build my own control panel with rotary encoders (did that before, didn’t enjoy it) so I’ve ordered one of these with 5 knobs.

Fingers crossed it works, it should take the pain out of adjusting the radio, trim, nav heading and AP altitude.

Others I considered were these…

I think this is a really good idea- Please post your results.

I got the device and have set up the knob inputs to match the keypresses I usually use to adjust things like AP heading and altitude, radios, etc. It’s acting strange though… if I run Notepad++ and turn the knobs every input character is registered and printed, all very fast and reliable, but when I do the same in FS2020 it’s only registering a fraction of the inputs. It’s not usable in this state, but it’s not the device that’s at fault, it’s something to with FS2020. I’ll keep debugging.

I have a keypad a bit like the third one. I initially had the same issue you described until I bound rotary encoders to emit three keypress events instead of one.

Thanks for linking miniMACRO5, they look cute.

Can you explain how to do this? Thanks!
