I could not get the AP to switch to the localzer in the CDI choices. I’ve watched a video in YT but I couldn’t get it to work the way it did in the video. All help is appreciated.
Hello,
pls first check for sure that user in video has WTT avionics update installed. I don’t know but this is my first idea where you can have problem.
Ok, a little thin on information of what you’re doing, so I’ll start with some basics. I’ll use the mouse for most actions, so I’ll say click rather than using a key bind.
Make sure nav 1 (you can use either nav radio, but I’m going to use 1 for nav and LOC indicator in this example) is set to the ILS freq you want. You can find that freq several ways, but the easiest seems to be open the VFR map, click on the airport, and it will list all the freqs.
Once the nav radio is set, and when you’re in range press the OBS box (where the GPS indicator is) and you’ll get a section to change your nav source to LOC. The indicator should change to LOC and you can run the “appr” from there.
Hope this covered your issue.

Thanks for your replies. I may not have been close enough to get the signal but when I opened the menu to choose the source of the FMC guidance I only got the options for VOR 1 OR VOR2. LOC did not show. I’ll try again.
Not getting the LOC indication in that box (or on the CDI) indicates that either, as you said, you’re too far away at that point to receive the localizer (pretty low powered units), or you’re too far off their centerline to get the signal. Unlike a VOR, a localizer has a relatively narrow lateral area in which you can pick up the signal.
In any case, hope it all works for you.
Regards
I think I solved it. I was too far away from the LOC to activate the choice. Thanks.
