Every time I fly a Heavy (747 or 787) into KLAX, I am always assigned this remote “gate” rather than one at the terminal.
Is there anyway to correct this?

No. Even back in the FSX days, you could not select the gate. I’m guessing MSFS2020 uses the same logic as FSX, which means that ATC merely assigned you the first available gate from the alphanumeric listing of gates that’s in the AFCAD file. Basically, the gate you keep getting assigned at KLAX is just the first one in the list that’s available. Bottom line: when you arrive at any airport using the default ATC, you just have to ignore ATC and taxi to the right concourse/gate on your own. The jetway will still work once you get there. This is just another item that can be added to the long list of “nice to haves” when it comes to ATC and AI aircraft.
