I have just bought the Kodiak plane on Market Place. Although I really do like the plane I am not a great fan of visible co-pilots. I know I can remove before every flight via weights and loading but is there a way to PERMANENTLY disable the copilot? I understand I may have to frig a file somewhere which would be no problem.
In the flight_model.cfg, at the bottom of ‘Weight and Balance’, change the weight of the coplilot (station_load.1) to 0 and save.
Moved to User Support Hub Aircraft & Systems that is more appropriate for community support.
Even though it looks and performs perfectly ‘up to date’, it was developed a little before the efb tablet became so commonplace.
I still kind of like it’s w/b structure vs some aircraft you remove the copilot weight after loading the flight and they’re still just sitting there in outside view. Or if you can keep the weight to artificially balance a plane and there’s nobody there. I’d call the Kodiak’s setup ‘honest’. Add 180 lb to a seat and a dude shows up. It was one of the first with visible passengers.
There’s other aircraft like the BN2 that defaults to a full passenger load and you have to mess with it every time, and nobody ever shows up except the passenger ‘co pilot’. Still love it anyway.
Personal Comments and Observations
Since it’s a Marketplace purchase, I believe flight_model.cfg is encrypted.
If it was a Marketplace purchase then, yes, bad luck.
If you can’t edit the file and don’t want to bother with removing the weight - and don’t care if the weight is left onboard…
Get the invisible avatar mod below and set one of them as your copilot.
I prefer having someone flying with me, but on planes where the copilot can’t be made visible inside, it breaks the immersion to have them visible outside. So in those cases, I switch to one of the invisible avatars.

alas I think you are correct. It will have to be resetting all the time which often I forget to do or get the invisible co pilot.
