The problem is not in the engine but elsewhere. We have improved this for the next update.

Given the further decreased performance in the recent update, and subsequent bug reports and testing to finally understand the issues with the Kodiak, it does appear to be power/engine as the cause of its anemic STOL Utility performance.

Sep 13 We just cross-checked the flight models from December 2021, June 2022 and September 2022. The first one was by the book, subsequent ones were gradually more and more underpowered, despite having increased lift in each new flight model to counter that.
There are certainly other factors at play too, but undocumented changes in the core FM through Sim Updates are making it harder to find problems. An example of that is that since SU8 the Kodiak would drop like a rock if you pulled to idle and flew less than 70kts. It didn’t do that before. We only found a fix for this in late August.

That said, we have pounced on the problem and will sort it.

In any event, it seems you have finally identified the issues with the Kodiak that severly impacted its ability to perform STOL Utility work. The issues don’t really seem to be a problem for people that just tootle around in for GA, which I can understand as they don’t go anywhere near the STOL Utility flight envelope, but unfortunately the plane was designed and built to fulfil a STOL Utility task first and foremost.

Hopefully, SWS has finally nailed these issues (as well as keeping up with SDK changes) and we’ll be able to use it properly for the job it’s designed for.
