Kudos to Microsoft

The ones who spend their time here scream and hollering and whining and moaning about this or that likely represent a very, very small percentage of overall users. Most people are sitting at home happily simming away without feeling a need to complain about a thing. That’s why the negativity here can create the illusion that it’s a majority of users having problems when the simple truth is that it is not. Not even close.

It’s also likely true that a significant percentage of those with problems are their own worst enemy, as one way or another, they should be looking in the mirror for the true source of their problems. Overclocks, addons with bad juju, background apps that are known to be troublemakers (like Discord), MS/Asobo has put out an entire page of steps to take to try to solve problems, and until User XYZ has gone through every single step and find they still have problems, only then is it appropriate to point a finger at Asobo.

I found it interesting that they said in the last public q&a that they were going to be looking at problems that literally only 10 people on the entire planet are experiencing. If they can fix all of those, and considering the next SU will be bug-fixes only, the Asobo caused issues may go down by a significant percentage, leaving the mirror to be the only place to find the culprit.

Back on topic, I agree that the boys at MS & Asobo have done and are continuing to do a fantastic job. That doesn’t mean I think it’s all sunshine and roses, there’s still work to be done, but unlike so many of the loudest voices here I don’t experience many problems at all, and when I do they’re usually connected to VR flights that I’ve paused overnight, something I don’t think the sim is really built for.
When it happens, I just shrug and accept that it’s likely my fault, and try to do flights that don’t require such an interruption.

So, good job team, please keep it up!

I don’t get what’s so hard about sitting back enjoying your new sim experience with MSFS, meanwhile letting others vent their frustrations and gripes for their unfortunate bad experiences with the sim WITHOUT generalizing them as gripers and complainers. NO ONE here has any right to label another user as a “griper” nor “complainer”. Nor is it your job as a user to worry about how the forums are perceived in general to be that heavily vested in policing who you may deem gripers and complainers.

Have their bad experiences with MSFS and its overall purchase as a consumer come out of your wallet? Ok… then let people be and not dictate their expressions of dissatisfaction.
They don’t particularly care to hear your constant drowning and blanketing of “well my sims running super duper fantastic!” If you can’t offer any technical help to these particular users with a problematic MSFS experience then you surely shouldn’t be trying to engage and police their qualms.
User’s with legit technical issues are NOT the problem and they are customers of MS/Asobo only not any of you.

Just you wait until PMDG or Quality Wings and a bunch of other big 3rd part devs come out with their aircraft. I also fly X-Plane for most of my IFR flights, but like any sim X-Plane has some quirks that are pretty unrealistic to the real world aircraft as well just like in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This thread from a while back is one great example as to some the unrealistic flight models that X-Plane has as explained by a dev from Flight Factor. That is to go to say that X-Plane model isn’t realistic at all. It has its positives where it simulates a lot of areas accurately.

X-Plane’s “weak” Flight Dynamics Model - Flight Model - X-Plane.Org Forum

Keep in mind this sim is only one year old and with a continued lifespan support of 10 years. They have much time to improve flight models, weather systems, and such. However their plan for most complex airliners and just any other aircraft in general, they want to leave it up to the 3rd party devs to do. That is why they are working hard on the SDK to give them the tools they need to have in order to create amazing aircraft, scenery, and utilities for the sim.

Remember when FSX came out? Buggy. It took two updates to fix most of it’s issues, and it wasn’t as complicated as the new sim is.

I don’t know man, see these two RL a320 pilots having a blast with the sim:

I watched this video last night, I have 15,000 hours, mostly in the 320/321 and I cannot praise MS/Asobo enough for what they’re doing with this sim.

The video was a great way to see a helicopter view of what has gone in to making the foundations of the sim, it is truly stunning.

I know that their is a long way to go to fix up some obvious shortcomings however anyone that cannot see the potential of this platform is not paying attention. Particularly impressed by the active listening that they do on Zendesk and how they provide the live Q and A with people that are right in the thick of design and implementation. Well done team, keep it up. (especially the VR improvements).

They did a good job on replicating the earth in the flight simulator, but a lousy job in the aircraft systems, that part is still work in progress.

Hear hear. This sim is amazing. It has so much potential it’s really frustrating that each step forward brings half a step backward.

In America, we have high expectations from premier companies to deliver. MS has been in business for very long time starting with Windows. They also have experience with FSX. So, over the years MS has built up experience so there is very little room for not having basic stuff working. Does the ATC work, does the AI work, do their planes work correctly. Why am having to look to 3rd party to fill the need? And even there u got premier development thinking twice before committing to a project. U should be happy about the complaints because that’s the gauge of how their doing. Most every conglomerate wants a survey on how they did on service. They beg people to fill out a survey with follow emails. This is how competition gets an edge by knowing their customers. You ignore, u will lose market share along with ur reputation. Apple listened to their customers and now is way ahead of MS which owned the 80s with their windows.

It’s hard to get organic feedback which ur getting here. MS will lose this nitch if they don’t comply because u can fool people in the short term but not long term.

People will give Kudos to product that works, I don’t give a hoot what went into building this. I agreed to pay for a product that is expected to work > than 95% of the time. This is supposed to be fun and not give us migraines or nightmares about upcoming updates.

I will give more than little kudos, I will give $$$ if u can deliver. I am inclined not to purchase any more airports from the market place because there is hardly any traffic working.

It’s time for action, show me or risk losing me to X-plane forever.

I read what you wrote and quoted you verbatim. I wasn’t the one who misunderstood.

Maybe you should be more clear next time.
