I did use “everyone” and that was a poor choice of words. My apologies. But I think you know what point I was getting at.
As someone who works every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, I know exactly what world we live in. That doesn’t mean that most people don’t have the weekend off. In fact, out of the hundreds of people I encounter every weekend in my own job, I know for sure that the vast majority do not work on the weekend. Somehow I doubt Microsoft and Asobo are one of those places that are regularly open on Saturday and Sunday…
I meant the ‘hiding’ part per se. I imagined seb cowering under his table ‘fleeing’ from an employee showing him the forum posts Jokes aside, it’s safe to assume that a higher up put them in that situation. I can’t imagine them willingly releasing right now, even though it’s great and has tons of potential, despite all the bugs and missing polish.
When something is a mess, when you have let paying customers down and when you have fallen short of what you have led customers to expect this is exactly what you DO do.
You do this not only for the customer but also for yourself. It’s a kind of ‘self respect thing’. It’s putting things right that were wrong and wrong because of you.
And, yes, this is something that I have had to do myself in the past and I have done it for the above reasons.
I am not sure what world you live in, but Asobo staff lives in Europe and here you work 5 days a week for 8-10 hours per day. Then there are public holidays and 20-30 days of paid leave.
Saturday and Sunday are usually free of work for offices. And game developers are considered as office work.
While I wish for swift and complete information on all the big issues we are facing - not only the server problems - I do understand that we can not expect this on a weekend.
And even if they work 364 days a year in Seattle - and I highly doubt they do-, there is not much MS can tell us about the bugs without talking to the developers.
Except for server maintanance and critical systems i doubt that there is mich staff at their desks at MS as well.
I don’t like we don’t have information about the game. I mean what is the problem? Is it a streaming issue? Is it servers? Is it game-related problems?
Texture issues, pixels, melting buildings, etc., why is that happening or can and how will it be resolved.
We need more info. Now you have a full forum with threads and posts, Reddit, Twitter, YT, etc., with too many messages, posting any kind of problem but without knowing what can be causing these problems.
Asobo is not, if it is the case they are only working during their timezone there will be no communication at all since the Asobo team will stop working when MS starts. I do not believe this is the case.
Exactly this is my point. It is 2 pm here in Europe and there is no communication at all.
I have been working many years for a US Company here in the EU. Even 15 years ago it was not an issue. Thats the reason I am so frustrated about the lack of comms.
And I do not care if they use Teams, e-Mail, Slack, Meet or whatever tools they are using.
Even the support has been silent for the past 24h with my tickets.
We are not talking about a small indy developer with one location.
They have had all weekend to work on the bugs and problems… hopefully later today we will get a positive update and statement saying what they have been fixing and a rough ETA for when most of the bugs should be fixed by.
A company like Asobo have MS have people working weekend, with shifts making sure everything is working ok, so no they don’t work weekends.
With the state the sim was released in, I would have expect that it would have been fully staffed over the weekend.
The MSFS was a 40-year-old program with a lot of improvements. The software was getting old, and it required a new platform to run. Asobo tried to do what the program demanded. Working in new software requires a lot of changes in plane physics, control configurations, and graphics improvements. But changing the platform to only streaming was not the best option. People with a lot of bandwith at home receive bandwith issue messages. The planes that were added were poorly developed, with a lot of issues—so many that you were unable to fly. Plans with really bad graphics. Like many, we were waiting for this; the experience was really bad. I hope for a huge update to fix the issues and better response for the team. We know you can do it because MSFS was a great improvement since MSFSX.
4 pm in Europe, still no official message from MS or asobo. We are inching closer to the end of businessday for asobo.
System does still CTD almost every flight attempt. Still no feedback via the support ticket system. More then 24h now.
Sale of MSFS2024 still continues on all major platforms. Getting more paying customers into this mess.
This is very disrespectful behavior.
Asobo is in France. 5 working days, 8 to 10 hours. Labour laws are strong in europe.
Of course they will have an overlap with MS.
For Jörg the day starts with a meeting, for Sebastian it ends with a meeting.
Take the live streams. For MS it is morning, for Seb and Martial it is evening.
Communication can inly come from MS.
Asobo is just the contracted developer. They have no role in marketing and communication unless invited by MS.
I expect another update tuesday evening UTC.
They will try to fix as much as they can before the livestream on wednesday.
I dont think we will have any substantial comment before that.
@Wined2310
As already mentoned MS is a global operating company. They do work around the clock without violating any labour laws.
I guess there is more then one person who could give an update.
There is no way I buy into the theory that they have to wait for one person in this situation.
Anyhow I do understand and appreciate your comment. even if I disagree with your statement.
And one more add to my post. The support should be able to answer questions without waiting on Jörg. Just my 2 ct
So working all weekend to fix bugs and nothing to share… take it the sim is so badly bugged that major coding and programming needs changing and that makes even more issues and conflicts…
Anyone else think they should pull the sim from gamepass at least while they fix it?
