Lakes should be frozen/white in winter

Description of the issue:
Flying northern Canada Thunder Bay area and the lakes are not frozen in winter.

Thunder Bay, Canada, December

3.Lake is wet instead of stiff

• Yes, but this is not me alone. All northern lakes and rivers that are normally frozen in the winter are not. This goes for northern Europe too.

But global warming and mild winters might occur and lakes might not be frozen then. Wondering how you can model this in a simulator.

Wouldn’t you also expect the chimneys of houses would be bellowing smoke from heating and fire place ?

I have seen add-ons for powerplant steam clouds and Yellowstone Geysirs - they were no good.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

New ice flows in SU2 Beta are awesome(!!!), but
1, Lakes still aren’t frozen, even at low temperatures. (See screenshot, temperature -113deg. This is regarding “Enabled lakes freezing under very low temperatures” in SU2 1.4.7.0 release notes.)
2. There are no ice flows at snow depth 26, and lake is completely covered with snow at 29. The tuning here seems unintended(?). (However, in this instance, this should all be a completely frozen lake.)

2. Turn temperature to extremely low
3. Lakes don’t become frozen.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

• Description of the issue: Flying in Finland and other nordic countries, lakes and seas are not frozen in sim, albeit in real life everything has been frozen for a couple of months now already. Temperatures have been between -10 to -30 °C for a long time. There’s snow coverage in sim as in real life, but it’s a bit ridiculous that lakes and baltic sea looks like it’s summer.

  IIRC msfs2024 will freeze up lakes and seas if there is a snow coverage of certain height. But that hasn’t anything to do with reality. Water freezes when it’s… freezing temperatures!

  Could this be fixed so winter would look like a winter with frozen seas and lakes in the north?

1. Start a flight (real weather) in winter for example in Finland.

2. Check it has been freezing temps over a month in the area you are flying and in reality all bodies of water have been frozen up for a long time already

3. In sim there’s not even a trace of ice in lakes or seas
