Landing gear failure while in cruise in career mode (PC-12)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Started a PC-12 flight in career mode (medium cargo) with “intermediate” wheel conditions (checked before takeoff), got a sim warning “wheel system failure” while in cruise with landing gears retracted and no action whatsoever on the wheels or brakes.

At the end of the flight, ended up with 0% “respect the plane’s integrity” because of that.

The aircraft was brand new and the routine checkup was not due for yet 9 flight hours.

It seems that the wheels are getting continuously damaged mysteriously even in normal flight with the landing gear safely retracted. Got this with the Pilatus PC-12, but this could be true for all airframes.

I would expect the landing gears not having any failure when they are not in use, and certainly not while I just checked them in “intermediate” conditions with normal easy flights and no accident or tough landings.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Fly in career mode with a brand new PC-12

  2. Check deterioration of the landing gears

  3. Wait until you get the wheel failure warning (might pop up while on the ground though, which would make sense…
