Laptop users, what are your settings and performance after SU5?

This is what I’m using and will be until I or it gives up the ghost.

The computer screen is disabled, don’t need it. The computer is off to the side, only access it to turn on. My settings are on Hi and Med. They may be on default. Don’t remember adjusting them. Everything seems to run smoothly, Wasn’t sure it could handle the the 3 externals, but it didn’t hiccup, it even ran with the built in display on for awhile. SU5 had no effect except for the Honeycomb Bravo functions.

I have an ultrathin Aero 15 x9, with an 8750 cpu (undervolted with throttlestop), RTX2070 maxQ, and 32gb 2600 ram. Repasted CPU and GPU and sitting on a fan cooling pad.

I cannot run at 1440p through my TV. Perhaps it’s my old cable.

1080p works nicely though upscaled to 110-120%, with a few things on ultra including clouds, and terrain and LODs set to 200. 1440p with most things turned down (and even render scaling set back to 1080p results in horrible results). Capped at 40fps dropping occasionally to 35fps or so. Trying to keep temps down but they normally sit around 85-90 degrees.

(1) Keep Charger plugged in when running MSFS
(2) Use a Fan Cooling Tray under the laptop
(3) Regularly check the laptop’s vents are clear of fluff etc

My machine: Lenovo Legion 7i/Intel i7-10875H/RTX2070-Max Q/32GB RAM/1TB M.2.

I have locked the FPS at 30 in Nvidia CP. Since SU5 my in game settings are mostly Ultra and LOD’s are at 200. It’s running very very smooth.

During cruise, I often set ThrottleStop to disable the CPU turbo to keep the temps down and fans quiet. Still getting 30 fps and CPU temp at about 62-65 degrees C.

Thanks for the tip! I played around with ThrottleStop over the weekend, and it’s definitely helping with CPU power consumption/temps. You’re spot on about not seeing any frame drops. Even panning around the cabin from window to window is staying pretty smooth. After some fine-tuning with the TPL settings, I’ve seen my average temps drop from mid 80s to the mid 50s. I found a handy guide on how to use TS to undervolt the cpu and I think that’s helping a bit as well.

My battery is still losing charge despite being connected to AC, albeit not quite as quickly now. The GPU and CPU are consuming roughly 130w at any given moment, so I’d think with 230w adapter there would still be enough overhead to power all the other stuff (monitor, keyboard, periphirals, etc). Either those things just use more power than I imagined, or the laptop sees that the battery is charged enough, and is just sending power to everything else. Either way, I can live with it as long as it’s not damaging the the battery or adapter.

Thanks again!
