Late evening/night sky lighting seems too bright compared to IRL, takes a lot longer to get as dark in the sim as outside

I love the look of the new night sky and its colours, but i think it should get darker quicker, especially in the winter. As an example, looking outside here in Denmark towards the setting sun, the sky is a faint light, but in the sim its super bright still. The earths shadow side of the sunset appears a bit too bright, i think.

This is how bright the sim has it, while IRL its this bright:

Night lighting has another issue when the sim decides it gets dark enough, it will just plaster this grey filter on the entire screen, if you find the exact moment it happens, you can turn it one minute back and the filter is gone, so it seems like the sim decides based on the outside brightness when to add this filter, i would love an option to turn that off, i ruins the clean look of the totally black night on OLED monitors.

hi @dustNinja7871 ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

No way to leave this is a possible feedback for devs, instead of user to user support? I dont see how any user would be able to help here, since this is a core sim thing…

We are looking to avoid duplicate reports in the Bug Reporting Hub, so I would recommend to participate to the existing one (see link in my above post).

When i look through that post i think it refers to a seperate part of the nightlighting, airport and city lights in general being too bright. I’m talking about the night sky and the brightness of that

Agree, what you are reporting is different. I found a wish but that requests the opposite of what you are asking for¨:

Looks like overall sky brightness at night should be improved, lower or higher, based on your location and the day of the year.

I did not find any wish that covers all situations so I would recommend to create a new one since it is more an enhancement than a bug.

I wish there was a way for this post to be turned into a feedback post others could vote on, this post is pretty useless in the user support hub as this a more a direct feedback to asobo about the night lighting in MSFS 2024 only.

My recommendation would be to create a new wish (where users can votes), requesting a better control of the brightness during sunrise/sunset based on the latitude/time of the year. On some locations brightness should be higher (as reported on the above wish topic I linked) and other locations brightness should be less as you described in your 1st post.
