Latest AGESA and latest Chipset - Stutter, stutter

Ive got the B450-F from Asus. I hav now tried both the latest (as of today kind of), and the bios before that. Both giving very weird results in FS2020. Stutter, stutter…and fans gong beserk. I also updated the Chipset driver to the latest. Not really sure where the problem is - but there certainly is a problem.

Have you noticed this too? 5600X + 3060 Ti.

Found this.

Spot on?

I stopped using AMDs years ago. I always had problems with them. Never had any problems with any Intel chips.

But that’s just me. Others swear by them. I swore at them!

Possibly. Are you running Windows 11 (or otherwise using the TPM – perhaps for BitLocker) though? Otherwise, go to your BIOS/UEFI settings and set TPM to Discrete and it should be resolved.

Hmm. I dont use bitlocker or similar. On Win 10. Might be set to the wrong setting. Could this have come with any ot the two latest biosupdates? Or even the chipset driver? =P

Wow. Changed to discreet, as you told me. Thats an improvement. Still gettings some occational stutter at Bromma Airport (addon) and Stocholm over all. Not sure I saw that before, but its still much better. Much better!! =)

Changed to discreet, as you told me.

Nice!
It was most likely due to the BIOS update. At least on my (Asus) board one recent update added Windows 11 compatibility by default, which meant they turned on the Firmware TPM (build into the CPU) by default. So you likely had it disabled (set to Discrete) to begin with, then the update changed that to Firmware, effectively also enabling the current fTPM bug.

I’m in the same boat. My last non-Intel chip was an Athlon 2000 I think. Intel ever since. It was commonplace, for new game releases, to see reports of various graphical artefacts that had been found, and it was usually an AMD card, so I’ve stuck with the Intel/Nvidia combo ever since.

I’m also trying to understand why the boost on the AMD CPU’s seems so slow. Using the Balanced plan, but when in game I need to “move around” with the mouse inside and outside to “boost” the CPU so the game runs more smooth. Weird. Shouldt this be automaticly and much quicker done by the settings in the powerplan? Do I have to enable HIGH powerplan even for my new 5600X?? Ok, used to use that on my old Ryzen 1600, but that was quite some years ago…

Should I alter the balanced powerplan in any way to make the boost quicker and not seeting stutter etc?

Well…

It seems like there are still issues after the latest bios (or chipset) drivers. There is a lot more stutter in same areas etc than earlier. So…not sure, I might have to rollback both drivers (as well as to the previous Nvidia driver as well).
