Latest "So called" Update has destroyed Local Variables *Repeated from 3rd party dev Thread

  1. We are not talking about a pre-release, Alpha or Beta software. MSFS is a commercial, Generally Available product that has been sold to the wider public as such.

  2. In commercial software that allows and promotes third party add-ons the SDK should not change without a clear and prior impact statement to all potentially impacted parties. This should be done well in advance to allow 3rd party devs time to change their code accordingly.

  3. The world will not burn if one or two SDK elements break from time to time (sh*t happens). However no commercial developer should accept a significant portion of the SDK to change without notice. If this is what is happening then that is simply a case of amateur hour at Asobo & Microsoft.

I agree with these problems, I have so far I have only bought one development and had to delete it and reinstall it. I will not purchase anymore addons until I am positive that this is fixed and that the next update will not mess things up again. I downloaded airports for my local area that were freeware, they were excellent and I really enjoyed flying around them. Update # 5 finished that, CTD every time I loaded any local airport . I have removed them all just to be able to use the Sim. it’s pretty good now as I get to fly for around one hour before CTD ! Please fix the problem.

I don’t want to defend Asobo here, but with each of the recent updates they have given warnings about possible causes of things like CTD. In fact the specifically suggest moving all community content away from the game and reinstalling each one and testing the game each time to find the addon(s) that cause the problem.

OTOH - if an aircraft crashes in real life (say an Airbus or Boeing) the victims look at the ā€œname on the packageā€ and blame the Aircraft Manufacturer. No one cares much who made the pitot heater, fuel valve, electric wire sending FBW commands, or whatever 3rd party OEM equipment.

It is up to Airbus or Boeing and co. to make sure that their OEMs are given all the information they need to make a safe item. Which is why the best big companies invest heavily in getting the best possible product into the air - safely.

If Airbus and co built planes like Asobo are doing with their product - we’d be seeing graveyards filling faster than…

Also, I dread to think what other damage Asobo CTDs etc. are doing to our home computers.
