Latest update – What just happened? Career Mode

Just did the latest update (SU2 – Flighting 1.4.7) and after building up a fleet of planes mainly running medium cargo missions had built up a revenue of circa. 98m credits and was at level 340.

After the update I have lost 93m credits and am now back down at level 107! I am told my most used company is Aerial Advertising – I have never done any aerial advertising.

I also have a career company in every field and a load of aircraft I have never purchased or used in my fleet. Previously i had just used C172, C208, C408, PC!2 and PC24 - these have all gone!!

To say this is frustrating is an understatement.

I have been simming for years and love the products, up until now. Forking out £130 on something that just resets at its own will takes the fun out of the whole thing, and I am left with the slog back to get to where i was.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Following the update, which installs automatically on sim start up, I notice in the release notes some statements about career and challenge progress not being carried over, which it says “could change in the future”. The ambiguity of this is totally unacceptable, and is there any forum advice on how to get back to where I was?

Folks,

Please read the release notes when joining the beta. This is not a bug and is working as intended.

Changes to Career/Challenge League in the Sim Update 2 Beta

Beginning with the Sim Update 2 Beta, Career and Challenge League will have separate progress and leaderboards from the live build.

This means Career mode progress in the live build will not carry over to the flighting build, and vice versa. In addition, Challenge League in the flighting build will have a separate leaderboard from the live build.

Making Career and Challenge League progress separate in the flighting build allows us to test additional changes and fixes that cannot be tested in the live build. All Career specializations will be unlocked by default in the flighting build to allow participants to preview changes that might not be available (based on Career mode progress) in the live build.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Same for me - I now have companies for all career disciplines and 5 million credits with 11 planes. This was upgrade for sure. Now level 107 - up from level 88.

Thanks. Any advice on how I get back to where I was?

If you leave the SU2 beta your Career Mode progress will be restored back to where it was. Likewise, when the beta ends and SU2 is deployed to all players, you will also have your non-beta Career progress reverted to where it was in SU1.

Just left the beta, restarted PC but looks like career mode is still changed for me.
The Xbox app is asking me to update the game; do I need to do this to undo the career mode changes so I can get back to where I was? Thanks

Here is some general info about how to leave a beta.

Yes, you probably need to update the game. When I leave/join the beta on Steam it does an update.

Same here but don’t use helicopters they are bouncing again and crash before being loaded and ATC is playing up just as bad as it always has

I just want to play the sim 2 beta build, mainly because of the max 8 I suffered in career mode, which means all progress in career mode is garbage. It’s unbelievable that this is a full priced game, it’s been out since November and the developers can’t do anything right.. bruuh

I just faced the same issue now.

What is the MSFS team doing???

Why would anyone in their right mind antagonize consumers of a product even more when the initial release is full of bugs to date?

And to make matters worse one can’t even play the missions in the freelance mode with the Boeing 737 Max. As soon as you get into the plane you get the message of failed mission for leaving the parking lot without performing necessary starting proceedures.

When will all this nonsense stop?

@Avillo7888,

Please read the release notes for the beta. Alternatively, please read my post earlier in this thread.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

What is killing me (beyond the not reading of the Release Notes) is that this is being labeled “latest update”.

Yo! This isn’t an update, it’s a beta. There is a big difference between the two.

You should opt out of the beta if your not interested in testing. I always opt out after every beta is done so im not automaticly get the next beta.

I’ve had this mission failed behaviour a couple of times now. Passengers are loaded and the plane is ready to get started. I don’t actually recall seeing the ‘start engines’ prompt before I used the normal ATC window to get a pushback and start my engines. Once the plane moved a metre or two, the mission failed. Not sure what I wasn’t doing.

I don’t play a lot, but today I wanted to fly, my career is gone, I have now instead of 20000 cr , 1 000 000 000 cr , and a bunch of planes that I’ve never purchased.

So I turn off the game and go back to working games…

How can you sell something with so many bugs ? It’s a lack of respect towards your customers !!!

You are playing the beta of SU2, that’s why you have lots of money and airplanes. So you can test everything. If you go out of SU2 you will find your real career mode again.
