Latest WIN Update

Any issues with the latest Win updates KB5034122? My MSFS2020 crashes at the start.

Which OS? I’m guessing Windows 10, as I have Windows 11, and have KB5034123 installed, the January 9th counterpart for Windows 11.

For me this is the 2024/01 CU.

2024-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034123)

I have no issues.

Does anyone else with the latest Windows 10 CU have this problem?

@PoshManager4531 As a diagnostic step, rename your Community folder to Community1, then re-launch the sim. This is a quick, and dirty way to remove all your Community addons to see if one of those is causing the issue. The sim will detect the Community folder is missing, and create a new empty one.

If the sim launches normally, you can then shut it down again, delete the newly created empty Community folder the sim made, rename you Community1 folder back to Community, then launch the sim again with your addons restored.

Or install Addon_Linker, and create all the addon profiles (including ‘Empty’) you want, loading and unloading them at will, never needing to mess with ‘Community.’

It’s a ‘Must Have’ in my humble opinion.

Hi there, Here’s the MSFS Addon Linker that @BegottenPoet228 is talking about

Yes, there is a “Disable All” button, which makes this very easy to do. The downside is if you don’t activate all your addons. If you have say several hundred, but you only ever have 50 active at one time, you can disable them all with a click, but now you have to click 50+ times to selectively turn them on one by one.

Renaming the folder is much faster in that instance.

You can save your configuration as a preset and the reload it after you tested with everything disabled.

There is a bug with this update and from what I hear, because it was done during the holiday period the fix won’t be fixed straight away but should be out in the next update. There are a lot of users having this issue and are waiting for a fix.

I have the following issue with this update. It is to do WinRe partition. I have Win10 and so it won’t install. Here is what MS support have to say about it.

Even though this update won’t install MSFS2020 still works even though it is taking longer than normal to load. Hope this helps and points you in the right direction.

Alternatively you can uninstall the update from Programmes and Features in Control Panel. Turn off your Automatic updates and do a system restore from before the update. You can then reboot and see if the problem disappears and wait until the next windows updates come out and try again. Win10 automatically does a system restore point with any updates it does. I have Win 10 and not Win 11 so I don’t how the menus work in Win11. I understand it can be confusing. The Control Panel menu I have on my task bar is the Win7 version which can be found in Win10. I don’t know if it is the same for Win11.

Good Luck
