Learning SDK - Question about Available SimObjects

I’m learning to use the SDK, and I noticed that in the SimObjects, Asobo’s planes can be selected while some of the planes in my Community folder show there and some don’t. What’s the magic setting that determines whether a plane shows as a SimObject? I searched for this but could not find it in the forum, so apologies if it’s already been asked and answered.

Thanks.

P.S. to the moderator – I asked this in the SDK section but received no answers and thought it could be because no one saw it.

More likely there’s no real answer.
The ones that show up as “Scenery” object, seem to end up being invisible? I’ve never placed them because they don’t seem to work.

There’s no “magic setting” on your side. The reason they are available in the library as scenery objects is because one of the Asobo modelers converted the simobject to a scenery object and used it somewhere in the game. But, as you’ll find, there is a bunch of “junk” in there, like spheres and blocks that were created as test objects, and not removed before release.

I don’t know that these scenery objects actually work.

I think all the planes are available as SimObjects? But I haven’t tried placing them. I imagine they take up FPS, but I have no basis on which to make that comment.

Thanks for answering. I’m speaking specifically of SimObjects, and even more specifically, planes that reside there. I could accept that “none of your community planes will show as SimObjects” but for the life of me I can’t understand the difference between the ones that do and the ones that don’t.

As I look again, the only thing that comes to mind is that if Asobo includes the Asobo King Air 350 (which they do) and I download a variant of that, then it too would be included (which is the case). But if I download a 737 for example, since Asobo does not include that plane in the SimObjects, then my livery would not be included.

It’s just a theory, but it’s better than nothin’ I guess.
