Let us help train the AI

This topic has been briefly mentioned in a few threads, but not posted as a wishlist, so…

Would it be doable / useful to have Captcha type games while the sim is loading to give the AI more information or training on how to do things like place autogen, change colours on satellite textures etc.?

For example, perhaps the AI chooses some tiles with coastline, where it has trouble recognizing boats. Maybe stage 1 of the puzzle could say click all tiles with boats, then stage 2 says click on the boats, then the AI gets hundreds of inputs from humans telling it that these marks are boats and should have autogen boats placed on top.

I imagine setting it up isn’t easy but just thinking simply about it, it could be a very easy way to crowdsource scenery improvements as well as give us something to do in the long loading times.

It might even help the AI get rid of baked-in shadows on the textures, if we can tell it that this dark area is a shadow and should be replaced with an adjacent, properly-lit texture.

I’m all in to help training the AI, but please not inside the sim (be it in loading screen or any other menu). Just make it separate.

Putting it inside the sim makes it more visible to users but introduces complexity & potential for bugs. As I noted here:

You could think of this as a variation of the World Hub, except that instead of crowd-sourcing airport improvements, this crowd-sources photogrammetry improvements.

They might just put an AD with a link to subscribe and participate.

I don’t even know if it’s something they need actually, but I think it’s something that should be taken apart from the sim itself, like the world hub (as you pointed out). I wouldn’t like “AI captchas” in-sim, but that’s me.

The captcha thing is just one idea, one that if made an optional mini game that doesn’t impact loading times shouldn’t have many downsides?

Basically any ideas to utilize the millions-strong user base to help train the AI should be win-win though.
