Normally the rain and thunder clouds look like this
Right now there are two problems with the current iteration of clouds. Firstly we are completely missing wispiness. I can live with the shape of the current clouds because we might not have the hardware available to completely render those popcorn cumulonimbus clouds. But what I cant live with is the wrong texturing/coloring. Right now they look like ash clouds coming out of the volcano.
Someone who has way more knowledge than me speaks about the cloud lighting in detail in this video and also talks about a probable fix. Skip to 4:58"

Did the devs ever acknowledged this issue ?

I was wondering the same lately when I was flying through a sea of greyish blobs all around me. This was not looking like clouds not only from the colour of it but also from the shape.
FS2020 clouds are a clear enhancement from previous iterations but there is still some room for improvement ahead.

I’m not necessarily poo-pooing your feedback, but clouds are hideously complicated visually. It’s very tough to render clouds realistically in real time. Personally, i’m really impressed with the clouds. They’re the best real time clouds I’ve seen to date by far.
No doubt about that. But they can look much better with a simple fix. Watch the video in the op and skip to 4:58

I watched the video, and i doubt the creator of it would ever be happy even if they were perfect.
Interesting stuff. Thanks
Hahaha. I love it.
If you think that is an issue, load up a thunderstorm preset at night time. There is the most bizarre visual effect on the screen when it tries to render illumination from lightning. It is almost like hypnotic circles all over the screen. To go even further with this, the period of illumination from lightning is too long. So instead of a strobing effect like real lightning, it is more like grandma flipping a light switch on and off.
Or, we can talk about the lack of cirrus clouds. Or, trying to render all cloud types just using cumuliform structures.
Or, since “live” weather isn’t “live” - many people just experiencing CAVOK everywhere.
