I did a high VFR flight across the length of the Hawaiian Islands today. There were scattered showers over Lihue, but they moved off before I could finish setting up my autopilot. The flight itself was uneventful, but the Hilo tower tried to tell me to make straight in for Rwy 8. There’s a little bit of a hill in the way of that one, so I opted for an approach around the north shore and what amounted to a left base entry.
