Using Little Navmap: Does anyone know how to show this direct segment as part of my flight plan? JJENI is the last point on the STAR and HASTI is my VIA to the approach. I’m new at this so this may not be the best plan, or I may not be using the correct terminology to explain.
Have you tried the LNM discussion on the AVSIM forum? https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/544223-little-navmap-forum/
Hello there,
Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to the Aviate, Navigate, Communicate subcategory of General Discussion & Community Support. The General Discussion category is meant for discussions that fall outside our other sub-categories.
Please check out these other categories for your future posts:
- Aircraft

is where you discuss scenery, airports, and weather. - Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
is where you ask for help with flying. - Tech Talk
is where you discuss installation, graphics, drivers, performance, CTDs, peripherals, and hardware. - Menus & Activities

The label on HASTI says manual, which means this part between the arrival and approach procedures are not linked up (systematically). In the real world, the arrival plate will say after JJENI fly heading 121 and expect radar vectors to FINAL. Here is the part on the cont. page of BAINY3.
And being around MSP for 3 years, I could tell this BAINY3 arrival is very often used and sometimes the ILS30L approach did not extend that much to HASTI transition. Long story short, after JJENI you switch to heading mode and keep flying 121 degrees until you are comfortable to make a left hand turn to 31 degrees anticipating an ILS interception. Also keep in mind that you need to pass MAUER at 8000 ft, 210 kts. If you want to fly all the way to HASTI, you need to stay above 7000 ft (basically level off).
Edit: MSP ATC are usually pretty nice with shortcuts since that’s a pretty busy airspace.
Zwen0416, thank you for this excellent explanation. I’m looking forward to trying this out. The piece I was missing is that I do not fly with ATC, and the MCDU let me delete the manual and discontinuity line and that connected the missing piece to be flown at 121 degrees to intercept.
