LittleNavMap Export Logbook request

Since the sim decided to wipe my logbook, the only record I have of my flights is in LNM, which I have used for every flight since January 2023. I would like to have a visual representation of all of my past flights together. LNM doesn’t support this as far as I’m aware, but does allow exporting the LNM logbook as a CSV that Volanta can use.

I tried to do this, but Volanta requires a field that LNM doesn’t seem to export, namely ‘duration’ - the number of minutes taken to complete the flight. There is a field ‘Travel Real Time’ in LNM, so is it possible to get this field included in the CSV export?

Have you tried just adding the field to the CSV (leaving the column blank) and seeing if it accepts it?

Yes, I did try but it threw up an error for that field.

Best to ask Alex Albar (LNM author) on his website.

Just an idea. I don’t use Volanta so cannot test this:

  • Export the LNM logbook to a csv
  • Import the csv to your spreadsheet app of choice (e.g. Excel)
  • Add a column for Duration
  • Convert the contents of the Departure Time (column U) & Destination Time (column AC) to a date/time format recognized by your spreadsheet app
  • Populate the cells in Duration by subtracting the Departure Time (column U) from the Destination Time (column AC) in the format used by Volanta (e.g. minutes, hours:minutes, hours:minutes:seconds, etc.)
  • Save as csv
  • Import to Volanta

Thanks, I had thought of something along those lines and it sent it a shiver down my spine. I hate spreadsheets, even the simple tasks, but I might have to give it a go.

I couldn’t see an email on the website but there is a support forum on AVSim, might have to register there.

There is a contact and support page on his .org site.

Thanks, not sure how I missed that.

EDIT: Thanks all for your help. Alex was very helpful and although he didn’t want to include an option for exporting the field (it’s calculated rather than collected data) because of compatibility issues with other tools, he did point me to a way to visualise the data in LNM.

I did manage to get data into Volanta manually as well, by adding a dummy number into the duration field (I’d tried blank and zero). However, only c.1100 flights are displaying so I might have to adjust the number I used.
