Livery installed but missing

ive been with ms flight sim since 1990 and for the most part have loved every minute of it. Ive run into a stumper now that im at a loss for, livery installs. I make the download, unzip it and install to the community folder . my equipment is
“(C:)users\owner\appdata\local\packages\microsoft.flightsimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe
localcache\packages\community”. steam install. the trouble is that the livery just wont show up in the program. I run AMD Ryzen 7 2700X eight core processor 3.70 GHz processor 16.1 GB Ram. 64- bit OS, X64-based processor. and windows 10. 255 GB and 2TB internal with another 1TB external.
now thats a whole lotta stuff i dont even understand and dont really want to. Does any one have any ideas on whats going wrong? Ive looked through other posts like double files but that dosent check here. thanks for all

Check the content store in msfs. If it is stating not installed, the add on is not correct or has a conflict with other add ons.

What also can be wrong is that there is a subfolder in the download meaning the actual add on is in that subfolder. This will cause of course the addon not loading….

Hope it helps!

Are you sure that is where your community folder is?

if you open the file UsrCfg and scroll to the bottom, there will be a line that confirms the location of your community folder.

Also open the extracted folder and ensure all the contents are listed there, and that it isn’t indeed nested inside another folder.

I don’t believe that is true in all cases.
I have several items in my Community Folder that show in the Content Manager as “uninstalled” and there are no issues with them.

my understanding is thats the ms store location, if your using steam it should be in
C:\Users<your_username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator
afaik

but either way the best way to verify where your Correct Community folder is (where any livery or mod needs to be placed) would be to use the Developer mode in game
turn On Dev Mode in General Settings
from the dev toolbar at the top of the screen select
Tools, then Virtual File System
open the Package Folders tab and hit the Open Community button
after that you have to copy the Correct addon folder into it, its Always the folder that contains the layout and manifest (required control files) AND they must be in the Root of the addon folder (not in a second or third subdirectory)

And therein is another small issue.I open Developers in general options and all i have is a yes/no choice for developer mode.

Select YES
Look for the small lettered tool bar top left.

Ahh. Tools at the very top. Dont I feel the simpleton . Thanks

It’s a very small toolbar, easy to miss :+1:

Success!
