Saving a flight plan and select “fly”: you are cold and dark at the gate. Load (same) flight plan and select “fly” and you are put on the runway ready to take off.
Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
I’d assume that the situation when loading a saved flight plan should be identical to when I saved it, right… or at least let me choose where I want to start.
That depends whether or not you load a .flt or a .pln file.
A .flt will load all the conditions of the flight, and start you at the runway.
A.pln file will allow you to start where you want, as it uses the currently specified conditions and just loads the plan itself.
I never use /flt files, but wont they spawn you wherever you have defined them to when ypu create the .flt file.
Runway, gate, parking, or even in the air, even already established on an ILS approch etc etc etc
From the world map screen, select your aircraft, select departure airport, select arrival and create your plan. Then open the drop down box under the departure runway or use the map and change the departure runway to a gate or parking ramp in the list. Press fly and you will start cold and dark at the gate or parking slot.
As FancyCheetah476 says, when you create a flight plan, don’t just select the airport as you departure.
Actually zoom in on the airport and select a parking spot or a gate, then set that as your departure.
You will start cold and dark from that position.
I normally fly the FBW A320.
I make my plan in Simbrief, and do not load it into the world planner.
I then just select my starting gate and hit fly now.
That works quite well.
Thanks for all your input & suggestions. I’ll need to try them one by one as my experience was that it does not seem to be 100% consistent at least. I’ll try tonight and report back what I’m actually seeing (just as a reminder: I’m on XBox).
Thank you and everybody for the feedback. I messed around a bit and found that there is a principal problem that for the departure (or arrival) I can either choose a gate/parking OR a SID/STAR, correct?
So now when I select a Gate for Departure (and Arrival) I’m placed at the corresponding gate cold and dark. When I change what in this case is set to departure/arrival “… (direct)” to either a SID/STAR then I’m placed on the runway.
So basically I should have three drop-down boxes for both departure and arrival being able to independantly select departure/arrival airport, SID or STAR and gate/parking.
Does this make sense?
Just tried some more: seems that for a departure I can define Gate, Runway and SID wheras for an arrival when I had selected a Gate that will disappear as soon as I select a STAR?
For departure it depends where you select the gate.
If from the dropdown, your plan won’t be changed. If from the world map it will be changed.
For arrival, leave the planner on automatic for arrival and set your gate. Program your arrival in the aircraft. This is more true to real life, as arrivals aren’t generally entered before ATC gives that info.
In the sim, that can be a bit too late, so I generally program the arrival I expect I may get in the aircraft when I pass the halfway point.
I’m having the same problem EXCEPT for the fact I am not loading a flight plan. I select a parking ramp and hit FLY. That’s it. No flight plan or anything, and I still get loaded in on the runway. It doesn’t happen every time, but it’s at least once out of every 2-3 attempts.
I have the same issue.
Creat a flight and electing a gate or parking spot is ok, no problem.
What I can´t do is (1) park the plane, (2) shut everything off, (3) save and (4 here lies the impossible task) restart my saga on another day on the same plane, same spot and same weight and balance configuration.
When I finish my leg/mission, I save and the only option available is to save as flight (.flt). Everytime I try to load the file some magic creature will put my plane on the runway with engine running.
Any tips??
