FWIW I personally very much like the theme and think the composition is great. But I still want the product to function in a coherent way, and user settings should be respected as a baseline.
I just launched the sim a few seconds ago. The music is deactivated in my settings, but during the loading of the sim it still plays, sometime stops for a few seconds then resumes… this is ridiculous.
I love going deaf opening my games when they don’t respect the fact I muted all music in the settings It happens every time I open MSFS. It’s happened since the original launch of the first iteration, and continues in 2024. It’s been responsible for at least 3 migraines in my life. I really appreciate all the work done to keep ensuring settings in the game are ignored or flaunted. Because even if I set my volume low instead of to nothing, it comes in as loud as can be!
I couldn’t begin to understand the true technical issue here, but this appears to have to do with how (or probably more importantly, when) the Steam launcher connects the instance of the sim to your MS account, and that MS account is what holds onto your settings. So until it authenticates who you are and loads your settings, it assumes default settings.
I wonder if anyone has attempted to bring this issue up to Steam to see if it’s something that can be changed within their client?
I don’t think it’s anything MS/Asobo can fix since it’s been demonstrated here that the issue only happens when loading the sim via Steam. Seems like something Steam needs to change in terms of when the account is authenticated during the load-in process, because it works fine on MS Store/Xbox installs.
This is still an Issue in SU6, persistent in Steam version.
I would like to mention how everytime I try to quit the sim it doesn’t so i have to end task it in task manager and Steam says that I need to resync the cloud status that saves my settings. might have to do with this issue.
Just as a heads up, this manner of closing the sim could result in issues with syncing changes to your cloud account - which could even go as far as corrupting that save file, wiping settings, control presets, etc.
Well you might be right, that’s a good warning to keep in mind indeed.
However, I have been using that method (not much ALT+F4, but more the cross/close window button) since the early days of MSFS2020, and now with MSFS2024, and never faced any issues with my cloud profiles. So I guess I’m lucky.
The only things that mess up my “cloud profiles” are the sim updates that always mess up my controller profiles in the sim settings
