It is made extra frustrating by the very absence of the namesake of the product — Microsoft — in these conversations. They commissioned it, they sell it, they leave us with zero interaction over issues related to it, force us to cry directly to the developer who frequently say it’s MS’ issue to address and then we are right back to asking, “Where is MS?”
I wonder if it would be helpful if on the day of a product release, the customer was made aware of exactly how much support a product would get aftermarket. If it is only 1 update at least we could decide, oh no, not buying that - or - if they say we will patch it on an ongoing basis, yes, I want that because a dev has pride in their work!
LOL
an ideal world, wouldn’t we love it!
That would certainly be nice to know up front!
I guess the good news is after so much time with this sim, I know which devs will continue to support their products and which won’t, so that helps.
It is a drag, though, when you really love an aircraft but it’s being built by a group you have to take a pass on.
Agreed, this aircraft is special and it so deserves some TLC.
(Sense ) logic for ff lg : do an aircaft…release it with bugs…make money…and never update it😂 especially this work with fs 2024 compatibility promises
Not to mention that they lock it down with encryption so no-one can attempt to fix anything either. But I don’t need to remind you of that. I think you are taking the right approach of avoidance, I mostly do too now. They rely on new distractions too much in this sim (and fs2020) it’s largely just a revenue stream after all. The ultimate was the 707 broken & never fixed since launch but never mind that look we have fs2024 and loads of new (partially working stuff) to go look at. Forget about that broken old 707.
You could’ve just simply donated directly to USO if that was your sole reason for the purchase
Is there anyway to enable the ipad in 2024 to use the built in charts. I flew the demo for 24 hours and it had it. I bought it, and Ipad is not existent.
And the C-46; same developer, btw
As a fully formed adult, I’m fully aware of this. However, just like with the An-225, I liked the idea of the MSFS collective body donating to a cause, and I wanted to be a part of, and support, that idea.
Some devs hide behind the ‘MS owns it’ wall. Because of this attitude I don’t own a single product made by Inibuilds (and of some others as well).
Could be rephrased as “some devs have employees to provide salaries for and bills to pay” I guess.
While it is true that salaries and other bills have to be paid it could also be rephrased as “some devs plan for additional updates in the pricing and negotiate accordingly”. Like any other business, the price tag you put on your product has to take into account after sales “activities” like support or in this case fixes and may be one or two additional features that you’d then put out as “look, it’s free” even though it isn’t because it was already priced in from the beginning. Like some aircraft devs obviously do. You pay a higher price but still get “free” updates after a few years.
Like with so many other topics discussed here, we don’t know the details. But the state a lot of LLs / FFs are in is rather said and in this case I’d say it’s up to Microsoft to do something about it. Did Jörg really not expect that these products would have to be fixed or updated to keep up with the sim’s development when he started these product lines?
This problem frustrates me so much that I’ve considered trying to call the Asobo office on the phone to see who I could get through to in order to give feedback. Maybe try to find an email address for someone to contact directly. It’s obscene.
Just fix the sounds, right now they are nothing like a RR Dart YS-11, sounds more like a Beechcraft, terrible.
I would contend that the interior sounds are good, and even have a hint of the Dart scream, but exterior leaves much to be desired. Sadly it seems no further updates are coming.
This is a lot of fun to fly, but how do I get my Co-Pilot back?
They appear in all my other aircraft….
TIA
