Logbook columns fail to sort chronologically

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
In the default view the Logbook is not organized chronologically by date and time. When sorting by any column, the column is not sorted chronologically or alphabetically.
The default view is sorted by date (oldest to newest) and also time (newest to oldest).
Selecting the Duration column does not sort by flight time duration in any direction (shortest to longest or longest to shortest). They are not sorted by duration for the entire logbook nor by individual day (the expectation is that the column sort is applied to the entire logbook).
Sorting by Date does not also apply to time. The flight start times are randomized within the sort by date.
Selecting any column does not result in a chronological or alphabetical sorting.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

• yes, I noticed this as well.

Yep, same issue.

Same here.

Same problem here.
All lists like the logbook need work. There are many in career mode.
The time is not being included in the sort.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
Exactly as OP describes.
In addition, the date/time appears to be UTC, which is incredibly annoying, as half my flights appear on the wrong date w.r.t. my local date/time. An option to toggle between UTC & ones local system time (that is persisted between sessions) would be greatly appreciated.

Same here…

• Default sort should show the last flight at the top of the list, not the bottom

Have the same issue. The report simply does not allow for correct chronological sorting. You can’t get date descending with time descending within each date, a logbook of all your flights latest to first, or first to latest in the other direction. This works in MSFS2020.

Logbook entries are in reverse sort order for each day. Default view, the newest flight is above older flights for each day.

Sorting to latest day first: Newest entry is at the bottom of the list for each day, oldest entry is top of the list for the day:

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• When sorting by Departure or Arrival Time, it is instead showing it sorted by Date. This led me to believe it is sorting by the real world time the flight was simulated, while its only showing the in-game times. This is further backed up by getting the same result if sorting by Departure time, Arrival time or Date.
Unfortunately, the resulting list is also not consistent in real time compared to the ascending/descending dates, but sorting reversed in real time inside each day (as far as my memory didn’t betray me).

Sorting by Duration seems to simply have been skipped, since it just gives the same results as sorting by Date, Dep. or Arr. Time.

Sorting by Location is broken since it is considering the square brackets in front of the airport codes of “Vicinity” locations, doubling the alphabetical order in location codes for the latter case.

Also, the column header “Planes” is an obvious misnomer.

In my opinion, sorting by “Type” (of aircraft) is completely useless, since there are only 5 different possible entries and those are rarely decisive. Maybe this column could get replaced by e.g. the real time of departure which the date column left of it is missing.

Solved in SU2 v 1.4.20.0

In v1.5.3.0 I’m seeing:

Sorting by Date (ascending) sorts correctly and will show flights with the same date sorted by Time (ascending)
Sorting by Date (descending) sorts correctly and will show flights with the same date sorted by Time (descending)

Sorting by Type sorts alphabetically (ascending or descending)

Sorting by Planes mostly sorts alphabetically (ascending or descending), but “Hot Air Balloon” is shown first / last:

Sorting by Departure / Arrival Time correctly sorts by time (ascending or descending).

Location is sorted numerically, then alphabetically then other characters. So, off-airport entries (Lat/Log) with a negative Lat will show before an airport with a number for the 1st character or off-airport (positive Lat) entry, followed by alphabetical airports:

and finally locations in the vicinity of airports. The sort does not strip the […] to show airport & [airport] Vicinity locations together:

Sorting by Duration (ascending) will show flights of the same duration sorted by Date (ascending)
Sorting by Duration (descending) will show flights of the same duration sorted by Date (descending)

Edit: I just noticed in v1.5.3.0 that when selecting an aircraft for free flight that “Hot Air Balloon” shows first:

I was not noticing this in previous builds. This probably explains why it is showing first when sorting by “Planes”.

Moved to User Support Hub since a solution has been marked.

I haven’t done any hot air ballon flights to have it in my logbook. Strange alphabetization for it to be first though.

Maybe it just floated to the top of the list…

I’ve created topic here for those that experience this in SU3 Beta v1.5.3 & wish to comment and/or vote:

Noticed a different problem with the logbook. It stores all flights based on the time of day selected on the World Map, regardless of when you actually fly. Landing Challenges with set times are also stored haphazardly based on the time set, not the time you did the flight.

Issue of logbook default sort by oldest entry remains in SU3 1.5.27.0
