I have same issue which I reported.
Here is the reply:
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator Support.
The logbook information is automatically uploaded to the Xbox Cloud Save when you quit the sim which is why we are unable to restore your game progression and logbook if your cloud save data is corrupted, overwritten or coudn’t save correctly.
To reduce the risk of corruption, make sure to quit the game by pressing the ESC key until prompted “Are you sure you want to exit Flight Simulator”? then click “Yes” to upload your save.
Please also ensure that Xbox Services such as “Xbox Live Game Save” are running automatically.
In the Windows search bar, type “Services”
Select “Services”
Scroll down to the bottom. Double-click on each entry for Xbox and make sure none of those services are disabled or set to manual. Set everything to “Automatic”.
Just watch your progress and you’ll see that you’re losing flight hours every single day. Especially on a ctd the whole day gets wiped out. Have the same problem and Microsoft has been trying to figure out how to make it right for me since november.
Data is not saved correctly and what is being saved is everything but safe.
For the life of me i can’t understand why this has to be saved to xbox cloud. Would it not be better to save to the device you are using? By doing that it would reduce the chance of corruption of data when being saved.
I am on Xbox S and have this issue since SU9. Anybody knows already how to fix it? If it is some data corruption in the XBox cloud data or something, is there a way to delete/reset this? Okay, then the flight hours are gone, but then at least it starts recording again. Any news on this ‘bug’?
After a flight, I check the log, the flight is there, but after restart the sim (Quit in the home bar on XBox s) the log entry is gone. Last flight logged is the flight right before the last SU9 patch. Did a full uninstall/install, but that dit not fixed it. Tried to sign out before quitting the sim, did not work either. Don’t know what to try more…
I have been having this same issue since last year and the it become even more widespread for me after SU8. Looking at the logbook after a flight the progress is there. However when I quit the game sometimes the last few hours of flight is deleted and sometimes the whole entire flight is deleted.
What I have found that alleviates this issue but not 100% percent of the time is that when I come off a flight especially a long one, is I don’t quit the game right away and instead do a short flight I.E just select some random runway and do a landing. After that I just I just leave the game but leave it in a suspended state/ quick resume until the next time I want to play is when I will quit and restart the sim. This has been working for me most of the time but is not 100% guaranteed. I just hate that this is something that has been happening for so long with no solution or acknowledgment from the devs. It’s also so frustrating that we are forced to quit and restart the game after every full flight otherwise the game will CTD on the subsequent flight.
Thanks for the info. Indeed that was also something that I was thinking. Since we do not know when the data of the logbook is synced in your profile, not quiting the sim for awhile giving it time to sync the progress. I will try it out.
I’m just trying to sign out the gamertag and wait till the press button prompt before quit FS due to simple FS quit ist not longer working with SU9 Patch. Maybe this helps as a workaround. I’ve made for testing some short flights. At least for them it the flights are not lost. The overall durarion is not correct calculated, but I think this is an other issue
I am also getting flights removed even after sim, closing it down and the going back in the next day. I am on Xbox Series S. My total flight time shows 138-hours but my logbook only showing 111. Yesterday a 54-min A320 flight was there, now it’s gone. I tried to log a bug but it immediately goes to solved.
Unfortunately I have lost 1000+ hours in the last 6 months and have had zero effort from Microsoft to fix it although they promised to. So don’t hold your breath for change. No one seems to care.
Solved/Closed: The bug report has been handled and escalated to our internal bug tracker—Our QA team will then review the information and try to reproduce the issue thanks to the information you provided.
I’m having exactly the same issue on PC.
I’ve tried to reinstall everything but still not working.
Flew one trip then go to the logbook - Flight was in there.
Close the game properly then open the game again - Flight was gone.
Not sure what happened but this must be some server-sided issue cuz I’ve already reinstalled the game.
I got tired of this and now building my own log system. Although it is not possible to transfer flight and log data out of the sim on Xbox, I still did a lot of flight planning and briefing in other systems anyway. By using different api’s, combining the flightplan and briefing, I will be able to create a log easily based on that info instead of the sims data.
Yep it is not what really happened in the sim, but since I like realism, in 90% of my flights, I fly according plan anyway.
Hi there,
Unfortunately I cannot. Both are logged in the team’s internal bug tracker and they each have separate bug entries in their system. If I merge it, it will mess things up on their side, so I want to be cautious about that.
Also, I think this bug is only an Xbox bug whereas the other one is more universal.
Thanks for the reply!
I think for this issue if you’re having it on XBOX you’re going to have it on PC and vice versa.
I first got this issue on PC and when I tried Xbox version of the sim my flight logs are still getting deleted after quitting the sim.
This is still happening on XBox Cloud Gaming, I just lost a two-plus-hour flight (which was livestreamed on Twitch so you can’t say it didn’t happen). Absolutely irritating, that’s 20+ touch and go landings just wiped out.
And if this is happening due to being timed out of the service, that’s ridiculous. It’s already recorded the landing. It should be done and dusted. I shouldn’t be recording these flights, seeing them on the log, and then logging back in later and WHOOPS that whole flight you literally streamed today doesn’t exist anymore.
Today I found I have only 1 hour logged in MSFS Logbook …again. Even I am on Xbox!
I had almost 200 hours logged and now nothing.
I am quite surprised that in 21th centrury developers are not able design data transfer from client side to server without loosing single bit.
Thank you Asobo for your “precise” job!
I recently notice I have no updates in my logbook since July 1, 2022 on PC.
I have flown about 20 hours since then.
Yesterday I performed a reset (Windows Settings/App/MSFS, Force Stop, Reset) and my logbook started working OK, recorded more than 6 hours.
Today, I had a lockup issues in Developer’s mode (trying to edit an airport) and performed a Force Stop/Reset under Windows Settings/Apps. It reset everything everything, settings, etc. After logging back in to Xbox Gaming, my logbook is back to July 1 entry. So I lost probably over 20 hours logged in the past 19 days.
Some people said the Sim will not track flying in Debug mode. I was not in Developer mode. However, I enabled Developer mode for a minutes, about July 2nd or 3rd, then disabled Developer Mode.
Also, in the past couple days, I experimented with custom weather. I disabled Live time, Live Weather, etc. and when flying a couple hours and I noticed that time was not in the Logbook.
So, It appears that BOTH Developer Mode AND non-live flying times are no longer recorded.
