If you want them to log, just make sure you taxi to a parking spot, and perform a shutdown so that the interface appears where it shows the flight details, then return to the main menu. Do not click Continue, and it will be logged.
I logged a ticket with Zendesk about this:
We have recorded the bug you have submitted in our internal bug and issue tracker.
If this is definitely reproducible, please file a bug in Zendesk and track the report number here. This is some good analysis work that should not be lost and good info for the dev team.
Already did, 5 days ago, and it has been accepted as a bug.
Itās definitely a regression. In prior patches, you could simply hit Esc, and go to main menu, and it would log. It might report you were in the āvicinityā of the airport if you didnāt park up right, and for dirt strips that might be you were only 30 feet from the strip itself, but it would log.
Now, you have to be exacting in what you do, and Iāve not lost a single flight by doing so. Although to be fair itās a bit of a pain when bush flying. Most of those little strips donāt have parking spots, so at the end I have to find an airport that has them, which is easy to do with a Littlenavmap, as that clearly shows you where the parking spots are, and is great for navigating airports.
I have the same problem. My flights for yesterday and today did not appear in the Logbook. He still shows me 99 hours. And I definitely exceeded those 99 hours yesterday. I had a few flights today, but none appeared in the Logbook. See picture.
cheers
Karoly
I posted a link to a video of mine where I showed the log screen I was referring to, and to avoid accusations of self promotion, which it isnāt as my channel is entirely utilitarian in nature, I will simply post a still of the screen I mean:
Here is me following the taxi ribbon. You can see the marshals waiting for me:
If you donāt see this screen, your flight wonāt log. If you press āContinueā it wonāt log. āBack to main menuā logs flights for me 100% of the time.
Wow. I can trigger it 100% of the time, but you do need to follow something of a procedure to get it to trigger. It was better before Patch #3
Iām trying to remember if I have ever got it to trigger at an airport without parking in this current patch. Before, if you landed at an airport that was un-towered, you could taxi off the runway, inform ATC you are clear of the runway, and shut down, it would log those flights, but I cannot for the life of me remember if I got the pop up.
On previous patches, you could just hit ESC, then return to the main menu, and it would log. You could also hit āContinueā, and carry on flying, and it would log. But not now.
I had a quick look through my videos, trying to find a bush landing where it triggered, but all I have are larger strips with parking spots, where it always works for me.
Thanks for your posts on flights not being logged. I have noticed that my flights are not being logged over the last few days. Iām only flying casual VFR around Japan mostly to practice landings so Iām not following any proper ATC procedure, though I am starting to.
I will have to pay attention to how I end my flights. Mostly I taxi of the runway to a stop and then press the āquit to main menuā [bottom right button I think that is what it says?] and go back to the world map to change airports and location.
I am having logbook issues too - basically one hour flights either donāt get logged, or get logged as very small times (12 seconds).
I posted my issue in the other thread but am voting here and replying - wonder if the duplicate threads can get merged by a moderator and votes logged?
The only way Iāve managed to get the log screen consistently is to request parking from ATC. When you stop in the designated area youāll have a green box around the aircraft, you can then shut down the aircarft.
You do need to have the intrusive taxi ribbons turned on though.
Actually you donāt need the ribbons, they just make it easier. You will know where to park as there will be two marshalās standing there. Depending on the airport, they are there even if you donāt request taxi to parking. Where not having those ribbons enabled is a pain, are those airports where you just have an empty parking spot, with no marshalās. The sim just tells you to go to GA parking, but not the spot.
Itās odd. I could understand the bug if the flight didnāt log at all if I didnāt park āproperlyā. But the fact it does random logs (12 seconds, etc) is a head scratcher. To me it almost seems like some data isnāt getting through somewhere.
Yeah, it can be difficult to find them at large airports though without the ribbon. On one of my flights yesterday there were no marshals until I requested parking, so it seems a bit hit and miss at the moment.
FTKY has no tower, and no parking spots. Interacted with ATC to inform I was landing, and left the ATC window open. After landing I taxied off to the right, and the second the option to announce being clear of the runway, I stopped, cut-off the fuel, and flipped the avionics switch. The pop-up appeared, and the flight was logged correctly.
Iāve not had a huge amount of luck with this, but it may be my initial assumptions were incorrect. You can shut down at simple airstrips, and interacting with ATC may be necessary for it to work.
When I DO get a logged flight I find there is no set way for it work. I have never interact with ATC and had the log come up, I have crashed on the runway no log window came up but the flight logged just no landing. Parked were I wanted gotten a logged flight with or without a shutdown. Shut down on a grass strip runway logged.
On the other hand only about 8% of the time do any of these trigger a logged flight. I also see on the bottom bar occasionally a message that says āvalidatedā but this also does not always indicate a logged flight.
Iām happy those who get a work around to work repeatedly.
Your topic title caught my interest. I havenāt seen the missing 45 minutes part, but failure to record a second or subsequent flight Iāve had consistently. That is, after completing a flight to shutdown or exiting via the Esc key back to the main menu. Also, the flight times seem rather short, but thatās simply subjective at this point. Iāll have to set a timer next time I fly to see how accurate the timing is.
