Gave it 5 mins and it worked. Now it works everytime straight away. Think it must have needed to decompress as you said. Thanks for that, I’d almost given up on it

It wouldn’t be as bad if they didn’t have the message saying ‘no entries’ there while the system hangs for 5 minutes! A simple message saying ‘please wait’ or ‘decompressing’ would have sufficed.

Mine now opens fairly quickly because somehow the game has lost all of my two plus years of flight records, and even though my total hours is accurate on the summary screen, it says I’ve only flown a few hours on the progress bar.
It’s hilarious how a first party development studio didn’t foresee how flight simmers might be a bit precious about their flight records and implement a better solution…

I lost about 2 months of flight logging this year due to hitting the max log file size which I didn’t know existed but couldn’t have done anything about anyway, but it was ‘fixed’ in SU13 with the compression.
Prior to this my total hours had remained ok and so still had the badges/awards while I had lost all records of landing challenges & bush trips at some point. (all reset to zero progress). These disappeared wth a CTD or sim update. No explanation or solution ever given/found.
It’s been a complete mess. The loss of 2 months of flight data because of the max logfile size was the icing on the cake. I’m sitting at 1500+ hrs but should be 1600-1700 hr range by now but for the max logfile size bug.
Any incentive to complete challenges now totally gone in this ‘game’ for me.
It’s ridiculous - if this was Fifa or call of duty the devs would be history, and sent to the job centre, while a more capable developer would be hired.

Makes me wonder how stable the new career mode logging will be in FS2024. Six months in and back to being a rookie again? Going by what’s happened in current sim I remain skeptical.
Yes it would be like having a copy of Fifa and 20 games into the season all results reset to opening day.
Bush trips were the warning sign back in the early days - a completely bugged experience if ever I saw one. Workarounds galore just to try to progress (which often didn’t happen), and crashes causing you to never be able to retry those legs again. Then all progress lost anyway. What a waste for such a simple concept. I’d have tried more of them but for these bugs.

not all my flight are from stand to stand, a lot of my flight are vfr from runway take off ,land taxi to stand shut down back to main menu then logbook and logbook came up within seconds. since last update it all changed .nothing worked so i tried a roll back that made things worse so had to delete msfs 2020 reinstall but as luck have it it wouldn’t let me.anyway manage to don,t ask how but now have to insert disc for msfs to work. now logbook took over a min to populate a lot of aircraft setting change. after a month every got thing back on track except for logbook.
now here we go again,as of yesterday 5 december 2023 had a mandatory update all look well the flight crash to desktop tried again then logbook worked as it should as soon as i click on it but now another problem ,my saitek pro rudder pedal not working. checked all setting, all ok, no update necessary,pedals not moving but in setting it working along with toe brake. all other aircraft control working fine, i have look on youtube at rudder settings checked with my setting and all same but no rudder control in aircraft. anyone help. neve ever experience this level of problems with msfs2004.
Fixed in Sim Update 14.
