Logitech Extreme 3D pro gets erratic

My Logitech extreme 3D used to work properly on MSFS 2020 but since I (slightly) adjusted sensitivity after the last patch, it leads everytime to plane crash: Half a minute after taking off, the plane stops responding correctly to the commands: Whatever I do, it begins to go down, slides to the left and eventually crashes. (This happens also after I turned the sensitivity back to standards.) Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any idea how to get that fixed? Thanx in advance.

Just a thought: Have you checked that no rudder or elevator axis is mapped to something else? I have my elevator and rudder TRIM axis mapped on the throttle quadrant but if I accidentally map not the TRIM but the normal axis on another controller then this wild behavior happens.

Hi Jack,
thanx for your thought but no, I didn’t change anything to the standard mapping.

Have you tried to calibrate the stick in window / logitech profier app.

What plane just the one you fly or all of them (if its just one plane could be a game bug not your stick)

I’m a real beginner and fly onliy Cessna till now. I’ll try other planes first.
And I didn’t come to the idea of calibrating the stick with the logitech app. I’ll try this also.
Thanx for the tipps, WJ.

Also check you have latest driver.

Unplug and plug again in flight.

I changed planes a couple of time: Planes 1 and 2: Problem occurs. Planes 3 and 4: It doesn’t. Nothing I can really understand… But I can fly again! Thanx all for your help.

I am faring quite well now with the manual sensitivity adjustments. Thanks go out to Treetops45 over at Avsim.

Hi. I also use an EXTREME 3D PRO, I suppose mine is a “lemon”. I have been using joysticks in flight sims for almost 30 years, and never experienced such a total failure. Listen:
when I fly the cirrus plane, I have to push back all the time to get the plane flying, after climbing to 1-2000 ft (with a lot of stall warnings in between), I finally decide to release the joystick to rest my hands. result: the plane shoots down to earth like ww2 german “stuka”, and crashes seconds later. I have tried all sensitivity adjustments, I have trimmed the cirrus to maximum elevation - there is no remedy, the plane dives like a flying duck hit by a shotgun, as soon as I release the joystick.
of course I had to try another plane - the airbus 320. what a surprise: at take off it shoots down the runway and starts climbing before I touched the joystick.! total crazy
and when I move the joystick back and forth, I notice that the elevatior trim is changing accordingly, so I actually trim the airliner with the joystick. Absurd.
Now I just have to ask how to obtain reliable controls. I have changed joystick setttings back to nornal, I have deleted the assignments, I have spent hours, IN VAIN. I purchased a new laptop just for the fligthsim game . The thrustmaster joysticks are sold out at the place where I live, and the new delivery is rather expensive, maybe I should go for the right stuff (rudder/pedals) right away - but what is the right stuff? there seem to be so many issues with normally well functioning peripherals , so, shoud there , after all, be a programming issue involved? I really do not hope so.
I dont use the game any longer, it has turned into a nuisance. CTDs donot bother me, to me the peripherals / controls are the most important thing. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? ps: this should be a new thread, but now I have written it.

Hi, Deppi, what happened with your cirrus is pretty much the same as what I experienced with the cessna. However, the joystick problem doesn’t occur with other planes (i.e. diamond40 or daher, I haven’t tried the airbus yet), so I’ll keep my own “lemon” till further problems occur.
As a sim-beginner, I definitely do not know what the “right stuff” is…

For my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro I set the controls as pictured in the photo and the rudder now no longer recenters itself.

Is there any solution for rudder behavior of this joystick? Rudder suddenly does not center itself. Tried calibration in windows 10, set dead zone 20 and sensitivity to -40. Nothing. Has anyone solved this issue?

go into the joystick section of the game and select that joysitck, top left ish of the screen there will be a settings button.

Watch that screen and move the stick / rudder when you move the rudder and see it move in screen go to that section of the setup menu. Go down to deadzone and give it at least a value of 5.

Now move the rudder again and let go, if its still bouncing a bit in the menu give it a little more deadzone value until it sits neutral.

I MAY have found the answer. Try calibrating the joystck with joy.cpl. It should be in your Windows\System32 folder.

Hello. I also have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and experience the same erratic behavior using it during flight. It will work well on some occasions for the entire flight. Other times, about 1/2 way through, the joystick will freeze up and not provide any response to the simulation. The simulator will continue to run but it’s almost as if the program doesn’t recognize that there is a joystick connected. Sometimes if I hit “escape” and then reconnect, it will recognize the device. However, this isn’t a sure thing and my plane ends up crashing. Frustrating! I’ve tried reinstalling drivers and calibrating the joystick. Nothing has worked so far…

did you try uninstalling the driver and leaving it un-installed?

I’ll give it a try. Still an issue after multiple tries. Thanks for the response.
