Logitech Flight Instrument Panels worth it or not?

Is anyone using these and are they worth it?

I have been debating for a while whether to get a small external display to pop out the PFD but don’t really want to take the FPS hit.

Do the Logitech Flight Instrument Panels work ok in FS2020 and do they affect FPS?

I run the Logitech Multi Pannel and Radio Pannels but not the FIPS (no FPS drops). I also use the SAITEK drivers but allot use SPAD (allot more control).

Take a look here, it does talk about FPS as well.

Just to be clear, I’m talking about the Flight Instrument Panels not the Multipanel (which I already have) or the Radio Panel.
It’s the ones which use a small display

Yes, take a look at the link to another topic I posted above. It talks about the FIPS and FPS.

They are awesome, and don’t have any noticeable impact on FPS for me. Should really be used together with spad.next though, because then you can load those terrific 3rd party gauges from fipgauges.com (or freeware ones like the Kodiak gauge on flightsim.to).

Just as a warning - you’ll soon want more than one (I have 4 by now and love to get even more), so it could get heavy on the wallet

Might be cheaper to invest in a touch display and air manager

Will using Air Manager with the basic gauges work the same way? Does it also affect FPS?
It would certainly be cheaper to have 7 gauges on a on external monitor instead of having to buy 7 Logitech gauges.

The instruments don’t affect FPS. Popping out pannels (such as the G1000, GNS530/430, KAP) etc… do. You’d want to take a look and ensure the instruments are available for the planes you typically fly.

I want them, but my girlfriend is for sure breaking them on purpose if I keep buying more toys. Lol.

I use 9 of the FIPs driven by SPAD.neXt networked, serving me for many years now (in MSFS, P3D, and XP).

They’re really wonderful if you like the legacy steam gauges (I do). I have had 1 (one) failing and replaced over around 10 years now.

There is a second source for gauges besides http://fipgauges.com/, namely

FSX Times - FIP Gauge Store

Both sources have their pros and cons. While those from fipgauges are more generic, those from FSX Times are plane-specific and very close to their real-world counterparts - with the (obvious) disadvantage you need a special set for every plane you intend to fly frequently (but some can be shared e.g. between the C152 and the C172).

I have been in love with them exclusively until a new enemy emerged: VR.

I run 13 of those. A complete set of cessna 172 instruments. I think they are of great value. I don’t use spad but the logi driver. The gauges I use are from fsxtimes.

Great setup, that must have cost a bit for 13 gauges. Do they work with different aircraft other than the Cessna without having to change setting etc?

I have 3 fips and like them a lot but think you should make sure to include Spad.Next in your budget should you purchase them… The Logitech drivers and default gauges are not great. I was pretty disappointed with them until I got SN–especially important if you use the FBW320.

Well, it’s a very GA steam oriented setup and that is what i fly.
I have a modular setup for the avionics though. Here you see the gns stack to the right (i am still looking for an audio panel, ap, and transponder to complete that setup). I am able to swap that for a gtn stack of a more traditional radio stack from logitech.
I am planning to make the fip panel part modular too so that i can swap that part for a dual g1000.
Have to save some dimes first :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Fsxtimes gauges are great and run without spad.

Love the radio panel. But I think any gauge setup I will do will be touchscreens and Air Manager. More flexibility.
