Am considering purchasing the above panels, but after reading hundreds of negative posts on forums mostly back to 2020, am a bit hesitant.
Can anyone advise whether these issues have been sorted and the products work properly with MSFS now?
Not sure what those issues are but I am happy with mine.
You cant assign keybinds to them like you can with a “normal” controller though. For me that is fine cause they usually work out of the box for me. For anything more advanced, you need something like Spad.
Will agree with that radio panel works on pretty much all planes Ap panel is a little more hit and miss depending on how the AP is configured some parts like alt selection don’t work ( usually on Ap’s where you have to arm the alt like carenado PC12 and embraer 110) but VS and heading always do work properly on about 98% of planes.
i couldnt now fly without these
I have it too and have no trouble with it, although I am using it with Spad.next.
Is it a straight forward download with its own installer, and what is Spad please?
I’ve got all 3 panels and they work ok with the basic Logitech drivers in stock basic aircraft.
But to get full potential out of them use a third party driver like SPAD.next that allows you to configure the devices however you like (plus any other peripherals). You can download aircraft specific profiles for the devices made by the community. Or you can learn how to program them yourself.
they are power hungry - run them through a powered USB.
I use the Logitech Radio panel and X-touch Mini, both excellent and add a LOT of usefulness. BUT, you need a bridging app such as Spad.Next (also excellent), or FSUIPC or Axis and Ohs…
I personally find Spad fantastic and there are numerous videos to help with anything. I fly the PMDG 737 predominantly and now have almost no mouse interaction. ps also just got a mini Ipad with AviaWorx software (10Euros) so I can run the CDU on the Ipad…caps it all off for me…
i have gotten the radio panels to work with the default logitech drivers but i’m also gonna recommend going for Spad.next. It’s usable for both the casual and serious simmer with lots of customization but there’s profiles that you can download for easy setup for a given plane.
There’s a two week free trial then it’s about $30 american for a year license.
Been using all of them with no problems since FS2020 came out BUT I have always used them with SPAD.NEXT
Hit and miss with the Logitech drivers and limited in scope. With Axis and Ohs however, the World is your Oyster. Bulletproof and so configurable. For instance my trim wheel on the multi panel now serves as a vertical speed selector. Axis and Ohs supports much else too and it is this that makes the difference. I own Spad and A and O but the value proposition that the latter brings to the table for me anyway, is unbeatable.
No issues at all with them, but as mentioned, it’s best to use a quality, externally powered USB hub as they are power hungry.
From past experience (personally, as well as on the forum wise) issues seem to occur when they are plugged straight into the onboard USB and the power draw is too much which leads to disconnects, CTD, freezes, etc…
I own only the radio panel. Some users run into issues because of the logitech-typical driver chaos and worst driver support / maintenance. But if you install the correct drivers , it works. How long , we not know. In worst scenerios the external Spad.next software exist, but with additonal costs.
never used spad they work well for me but yes as someone said get a powered usb hub
I started out just using the Logitech drivers with mine, but there are things that you can’t bind to the switches in vanilla MSFS (e.g. C152 panel lights). I went with the 3rd party software interface between the switch panel and MSFS because it let me configure stuff that I couldn’t otherwise.
Do you mean a USB hub connected to AC wall socket, rather than to PC?
Well, it would still be connected to the PC for communication. But yes, it be plugged into the wall outlet for power.
I run all my USB devices off this aside from mouse and keyboard.
Thanks Skypilot, ordering one right now.
Second this. I use two of them for all my USB peripherals and have had no problems since implementing this.
I would not recommend the Sabrent USB hub listed above. I tried 2 of them and both caused nothing but trouble. Switched to an Anker hub and all the problems went away…
Oh! I just asked Santa for one. It has great reviews on Amazon. What makes you say that? What happened?
The Anker one looks fine too but doesn’t have the individual power buttons which I like to have.
Hopefully the elves haven’t started packing yet and I can change my mind if needed!!
