London? Is it bad for everyone?

As a newcomer to the PC side, I was hoping the massive change in hardware would fix the state of London. On the X-Box-X it looked like a post apocalyptic war zone every time.

I took a first (PC) flight there yesterday hoping to see my home town in some sort of good order, I have rolling cache set to 16Gb so expected that if it was bad first pass it might improve - nope - it looked terrible, the London Eye looked like it was covered in thick grey cobwebs, building looked terrible still.

I flew around for 30 minutes hoping that if it was a data issue that the rolling cache would eventually fill and it would pop into clarity - nope, stayed bad on every pass over.

Is London just broken?

I do have the UK world pack installed.

Thanks

London is broken for sure, mostly.
Sometimes it seams to load in better, but mostly it’s a disaster.

Ok, thanks, i’ll steer clear again then :frowning:

London is great on my PC with ryzen 5800x3d and 3090. Its not broken, its the limits of your xbox. Get a PC.

If you read my post you will see i am on PC, i used to be on xbox but now running an i12900K, RTX3080Ti etc

I have never seen good graphics in London and was previously blaming the xbox but the PC is just as bad

I play on PC with an RTX 2060, i9-10900K 3.7 GHz and 32Gb DDR4 3600 MHz, with all graphic settings set to Ultra (currently).

London seems hit or miss to me. Sometimes I can fly over it, or even land at Heathrow with fps in high 30s or over. Other times fps sinks to low teens. So far I’ve not noticed any identifiable constants as to definitive cause. Some say it’s the game coding, others blame hardware, others say it’s driver related.

If you have the time to wait 60 seconds for the ■■■■ photogrammetry to load then it might be tolerable. Most of the time I don’t.

I cannae believe they signed off on that when it was added with the UK update as it’s never really been any good, but its performance seems to have degraded.

I hope they didn’t pay a great deal for it.

I circled over London for about 30 minutes hoping it would load but no :frowning:

If I sit still in one place it eventually loads for me. But it certainly isn’t worth the wait.

Sadly, London is one the worst photogrammetry cities in the sim. Jörg Neumann acknowledged this in one of the Q&As and said they were looking to improve or replace it at some point. It doesn‘t seem to be a priority though. Orbx has a pretty reasonably priced landmarks pack that covers most of the more prominent buildings. It doesn‘t solve the photogrammetry problem but it definitely improves the overall look of the city.

Unfortunately, the quality of photogrammetry for London seems to be diabolically poor. Don’t get me wrong I really appreciate that we are continuing to receive regular world updates or just updates really. But it has to be said that for a prominent world capital like London and as a Brit the rendition of London we currently have is borderline offensive.
I all honesty I think it might have been a wiser decision to not have used photogrammetry if that’s the best there or at the moment, or preferably maybe have spent some time to replace the worse parts. Really a top candidate for a city update sure?..

Photogrammetry can be turned off in the settings so you still have that option. But I agree, it‘s a dreadful rendition of one of the most popular cities in the world.

I know I have the option to turn it off but there are areas where the photogrammetry is ok and quite frankly I tend to avoid flying over London or other areas where there’s a similar quality to be experienced.

Asobo really have really pushed and advanced the flight sim experience so well in many respects and on the whole MSFS is shaping up well. There are areas where is still lacks so badly though - use of really poor quality photogrammetry is one example. I am sure in time these things will gradually be addressed and improved.

It does not get any better for me :frowning:
