Long-EZ released by Indiafoxtecho

Secrets for the LongEZ

  • Keep approach, flare speed at 80Kts - not more and certainly not less
  • Extend speed brake fully on approach or before (only has full extend / retract positions if using buttons assigned to spoiler)
  • Best to reduce fuel to 25-30%
  • Enter pattern at 90 kts, (My checklist: mixture rich, gear down), slow to 80 kts
  • Fly it all the way down, with very gradual flare. (The IFE model stalls the canard early so cutting the power over the threshold will not give enough speed to rotate and keep the nose off.)
  • Grass/short field landings: sorry! 80 kts in the MSFS/IFE LongEZ. Keep the nose up as long as possible then hit the brakes. It won’t be pretty but it’ll get you down without folding the nose wheel.
  • There is no “Low with gear up” buzzer.
  • This version cannot be “parked” (putting nose wheel up and resting on the rubber skid)

I use a LongEZ joystick profile with buttons mapped for

  • left tank,
  • right tank,
  • gear up,
  • gear dn,
  • brakes (no parking brake in this one),
  • speedbrake (spoiler) extend,
  • speedbrake retract,
  • trim up,
  • trim dn,
  • two cockpit views,
