Long Shots: Your unusual, rare or niche aircraft wishlist

I’ll go for a whole category. Long range business jets. I didn’t think they’re obscure, yet four years in and not a single long range (4,500+ nm) business jet aside from airliner conversions (BBJ and ACJ).

That may be in part due to the litigious nature of some of the long-range business jet makers. For example, both Dassault and Gulfstream have sent cease and desists to developers if they make representations of their aircraft without entering into a license agreement with the real company. I think Dassault is open to it (and they worked with Feelthere/Wilco years ago on a Falcon), but I know that Gulfstream is particularly opposed to anything that even comes close to looking like a their jets in a non-professional simulator environment.

In Dassault’s case, we have seen some cases of aircraft release (to include their combat aircraft) as long as the dev doesn’t call it Dassault or the aircraft’s real name, while Gulfstream has persisted with takedowns due to saying their aircraft shapes (particularly the windows) are their IP and under copyright protection.

Yeah, I know we’ll never see a Gulfstream, but Dassault Falcons and Bombardier Global series of aircraft are what I expected to see long ago.

I’d love to see a dev tackle any Global or a JS41 which PMDG has done in the past but won’t bring to MSFS or the General Atomics Do228NG.

I would love to see a de Havilland Mosquito and a de Havilland Hornet …from developers like Flying Iron and Just Flight.

I love the Mosquito, but that’s a whole lot of time staring at engines.

The content “drought” we are in before 2024 has me thinking about the entertainment side of aviation subjects that would be “plausible” with licensing and arguably acceptable to be seen within MSFS. There is only one fictional fixed wing addon that I “really” want:

The Russian MiG-31 “Firefox” at an IFE or TMS level quality (due to their experience implementing “classified” avionics - with an IFE type flight model implementation so one can actually fly it in a stable AND controlled position in formation as well as on approach)

FYI, work is progressing on a Grumman Duck:

Oh my that’s a pleasant surprise! Can you provide attribution in terms of developer?

It is the old FSX model by Paul Domingue that is being converted to fully MSFS native, and I’m adapting my textures for it.
Still lots to do, but it’s slowly coming together…

Another vote for the SA227 Metroliner. Razbam did a great one back in the day for FSX. Very enjoyable to fly both IRL and in the sim!

How about the CT-114/CL-41 Tutor?

Dornier 728. One Prototype was basically completed but never took flight as Fairchild Dornier went bankrupt.

Would be lovely to have as an “what if” aircraft.

Was just reading about the two new versions of the 1929 Junkers A50. With the ability to do the 1929 original version and both the 2023 A50 Junior and the super-cool 2024 A50 Heritage, this would make an awesome trio for a Local Legend. Maybe next time something in Germany gets updated… This looks right up Jorg’s alley!

When two Constellations love each other very much, sometimes they go into a hanger together and make an M 360 Jupiter…

I second this! It’s kind of my dream IRL plane. I would love to see a good rendition of it. I wonder if Junkers woyuld even license it, especially if it was an official addon.
