NO FRIGGIN WAY… I’ve been having the placeholder EFB that’s just sitting there being off. And since now it’s working. I’m so excited to get my mod updated and start exploring it.

It’s in an extremely EARLY stage… only 1 out of 5 things are working at the moment, but they’ll have it up and running soon, no doubts. Pretty cool!

Now that the EFB has been added, does it decrease FPS performance and add stutters?

I tried it earlier today…did you have a problem with zooming in on it? It was hard to get close enough to view the information when I tried it.

No, not in my setup with VR

something is better than nothing. So it’s still a good progress.

yep, found the flyPad today as well coincidentally working. pretty good start. thanks @FlybyWireA320 and team. Ground options do not work but the map alone is nice and you can request airport weather by clicking in the 4 underscores and insert the airport code. also simbrief works once your ID is set in the company tab (though barely readable white on white). onyl issue I had on my recent fiight is that I click on the leaflet icon bottom right and ended up with a leaflet welcome screen which I could not close/get rid of anymore. well, anyway a good start, love what I see

I tried using the simbrief integration. While it’s working just fine. I do find simbrief flight planning to be “too much”. There’s so much thing to set up in there and so many information to put. It’s good for people who likes to do flight planning and briefing the proper way. But if I just want to fly based on moods and think about the departing and arriving airport on the fly. It’s too much flight planning for a short hop. I’ll just stick to the world map flight planning that’s just point and click and I can be on my way.

So I tried using the other button, the Link MCDU instead of Simbrief, but it didn’t seem to work for me. Did anyone managed to get it working using the built-in flight planning tool and have the flight plan to appear and the weather reports for both departing and arriving airports? If so, I probably need to reinstall the mod and try again.

I’d be surprised if it was implemented yet.

BTW, simbrief is extremely easy to use. I literally only put my depart and arrival plus my airplane type and click generate.

So easy!

FBW is amazing! Their staff should be hired by asobo and microsoft!

I tried flying with simbrief yesterday, but there’s too much information. Like I set 38000 feet. Yet I end up flying at 13000 feet. And I had to request altitude change to ATC. Then depart or arrival, you need to know the actual airport ICAO code. I know geographical places pretty much on top of my head, but having to check for that ICAO code then enter it again is a longer process than just simply open the map, click depart, click arrival and load in.

The airplane type has a lot of things to fill in, like the ICAO aircraft type. The A320neo isn’t available as a default airframe, so I had to create it first, with registry number, engine types, all of that.

Then you need to fill in the pax number, fuel amount, payload. All of which is just too much information for a simple 1-3 hour flight that I can just point and click.

I can’t assign the SID, and even if I do assign the departing runway in simbrief. When I fly it, the ATC gave me a different runway. Which throws off my spawning gate if I want to start close to the runway. Then the STAR also can’t be added in the flight plan (or maybe I just don’t know how to).

I have no complaints with Simbrief, don’t get me wrong. I can see that it’s a very powerful tool that’s very useful. And it’s probably the proper way for flight planning. But to me, it’s overkill. Too much things to plan for a short casual IFR flight.

If you need help setting up the simbrief with the a320 let me know. Not a lot of information is needed to setup. Open simbrief page… select dep/arr airport. remember flying east to west you fly in even 1k increments (FL320) and west to east in odd 1k foot increments. (FL310). If you are flying with the 320nx there’s a proper way to make sure everything is loaded in correctly. Keep in mind MSFS2020 isn’t a point and click game or plug and play game to most. You have to plan your headings, which way the metar is showing wind direction and speed just to setup for the proper runway to land and take off from.

Yeah, that’s the thing. I know about the odd/even number, but at least the sim automatically gives you with 38000 or 39000 feet based on these directions. Which I don’t need to input or change.

Yes I’m using the A32NX mod, and I know about the proper way to get them loaded in correctly. Like I said, I have no issues. I set them properly and correctly it integrates well with the nx mod. It’s just too much for me to do to get it properly set up. Something that I prefer to just have a simple point and click through the world map.

Of course I know about headings with the wind direction and the correct active runway. But using the world map I can see this directly. I can just zoom in to the airport, pick the departing gate, then move the map zoom in to the destination airport and click on the arriving gate and the flight plan just got generated. I switch to High Altitude Airways, and I go back to my departing gate and it’ll show the wind direction. Then I assign the SID based on the runway with headwind. Then I go to the arrival gate and check on the wind direction there and set my approach and STAR to the runway with headwind as well. This is what I call a simple point and click process and the necessary information is already on screen.

Check my fuel load to make sure I have enough to cover the journey plus a little bit of extra. check the cruising altitude which is always either FL380 or FL390 depending on my heading without me needing to do anything to it. Click Fly, and everything is loaded in the MCDU. All I need is to do the INIT and PERF setup, and I’m good to go.

With Simbrief, there’s this extra layer of process on top of it. That I have to do a lot more of stuff, knowing my ICAO airport code, had to set the cruising altitude and taking into account the east/westbound, and the SIDS don’t get matched up and the STAR is basically I have to set it up in the MCDU manually after integrating the whole flight plan.

There’s so much much things to do in simbrief to get it loaded properly up to a point it’s too much. Something that I can do in a fraction of the time without it in a simpler point and click process. Like I said, I have no problems with Simbrief. It’s just too much and too serious for my taste.

It is… works just fine. see GitHub - flybywiresim/aircraft: The A32NX & A380X Project are community driven open source projects to create free Airbus aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator that are as close to reality as possible.

already fixed by FBW in current dev mode. thanks team! black characters are much better to read…

The EFB interface looks amazing! Really looking forward to where this can go. Only downside so far is that the iPad feels way too small in VR, making it difficult to use (especially with the tiny click spots of the interface). Also the mouse cursor seems very off in VR, like it’s hovering above the EFB.

Mind you, none of this is a complaint, just having this thing here (showing it’s possible) creates so much potential! Super excited. Just great work from everyone involved

I do love the advances in the FBW A320, This EFB is going to be great. I tried it out today but after 10minutes or so, everytime I try to zoom in (in VR and 2d) the EFB shows a Carto Login page and I can’t see any info.

Anyone else?
