Once again, thanks to the community for the fantastic recommendation of the A2A Comanche 250. What a brilliant aircraft.
Unfortunately, having delivered virtual aircraft parts all around Europe for my virtual employer, and completed ferry flights from Greece to the UK and a ferry flight across the Atlantic from the UK, via the Faroes, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, Canada and hence to Fort Lauderdale in Florida, I am finding the performance in the Comanche failing to meet my ever broadening horizons.
Still use the Comanche for local sightseeing escapades though.
I was waiting patiently for the BlackSquare Dukes to be released on 2024 but it seems from the most recent BlackSquare post on the Just Flight forums that the sim is far from stable enough yet for this and the release date is undetermined.
So I am in the market for a high quality new aircraft. General Aviation / light commercial aviation sector, twin turboprop (from beech baron to beech kingair 350 size) and high fidelity in regards to systems depth and flight model as per the A2A and BlackSquare examples.
Since my flying is to be predominantly ferry flights and aircraft parts deliveries to some far flung places, often across significant water, Twin turboprop engines, speed and a decent range are the attributes I am looking for. Oh and a generally steam gauge cockpit. Hate the newfangled glass cockpits.
Certification for flight into known icing conditions would be the errrr icing on the cake.
Is there such a thing that is 2024 ready?
The Shorts 360 or Turbo/Turbine Islander would be my recommendations, both are pretty well ‘bad weather’ ready and high fidelity.

Thanks VF, I will certainly look into those.
I had a look on the Black box website and the piston islander is on sale and at £13 is a steal. The turbine version is not in the sale and is still at £30.
Since the islander will not be my ideal aircraft (does not have the speed I am looking for during long flights) I have just bought and downloaded the piston variant on sale.
At £13 it is a no brainer, gives me something new with high fidelity to learn and more importantly, gives me a means to assess if Black Box products are right for me.
Coming from DCS, I have really not got much idea of which devs produce good products and which ones are less good over here on 2024.
The default aircraft are not much use to me at all, just as I expected. Knew I would be buying third party aircraft from the start. The stock aircraft are fun for a few minutes, but fail to capture my imagination. I like to feel the wind lifting up my wings…
It downloaded OK, although defender had a bit of a hissy fit initially because it was a CRdownload file, but I kicked it back into its corner and the installer once opened and pointed to my version of 2024, installed it without problems.
Time for a beer now so I will not get around to trying it out until tomorrow.
So thanks for the pointer VF.
I really do listen to you guys.

The Flysimware Cessna 414AW Chancellor is another suggestion if you don’t already have it. It’s FS2024 compatible (not native yet) but works well.
