Losing focus of the sim I get an increase of nearly 10fps?

Just realised tonight every time I alt tab out of FS2020 I gain nearly 10fps ??

Anyone else notice this ? running Reverb G2

Same phenomenon on my PC but using an PSVR headset. If I start the game with VR but do not activate it (ā€žnormalā€œ mode) I have the same as well (but donā€˜t have it if I donā€˜t start FS with VR at all, that has been reported already several times with some fixes that donā€˜t work for me in VR).

I wrote a small Windows ā€žappā€œ to forward at least keyboard input to FS. So Iā€˜m off focus at my app enter e.g. F7, my app shortly switches focus to FS, emulates keyboard and switches back…

Dirty workaround…

I don’t think I’ve observed this with my 2 Oculus devices so it might be specific to WMR. Will double check today. If I had to guess, it’s probably due to their overlayed mouse cursor. X-Plane has one which also eats performance whenever it’s active.

you mean with ā€œtab outā€ that you leave the game completely with your mouse for an example to the task manager?

I need to update. I changed my way of entering VR and now everything’s fine:
Before I always opened SteamVR and then starting FS 2020 from there and had this strange behaviour that performance was better when FS did not have the focus. And I did so, because I think if I’ve done it differently the game crashed when switching to VR mode via the shortcut.

Now I retried to start FS normally (from Steam, not SteamVR) and then switched to VR with the shortcut as soon as the game has launched. And now everything’s fine. No framerate difference if focused or not and performance is as before when it was unfocused, i.e. good performance.

My problems have disappeared.
