After trying out MSFS on my laptop, my desktop i9, 32gb, RTX3070 system’s graphics quality has significantly deteriorated. I’ve tried changing the graphics settings in MSFS, but nothing on screen changes. Used to have very realistic scenery, especially mountains, roads, airports, etc., but now it all looks “fake” and poorly rendered. I’m running MSFS at High Performance mode, with a Gigabyte monitor running at 165Hz. Please offer suggestions to get this back to normal excellent resolution.
Go to the ‘Data’ tab in MSFS settings, under, ‘Data Connection’, ensure that both ‘Online Functionality’ and ‘Bing Data World Graphics’ settings are turned on.
It should show an immediate improvement.
If not, go back to the settings page, check the settings haven’t changed once again. Save the new settings, close the sim, restart your PC and try the sim again.
If that doesn’t work, ensure that your firewall isn’t preventing connections to the program.
As well as the above, if you have the Rolling Cache turned on, empty it.
Duh! So simple…worked a charm. Many thanks for your quick and GREAT info.
Sometimes when the game loses online functionality because of a server issue or something like that, the game (client-side) tends to turn off online functionality settings or bing graphics, forcing you to manually enable it again. It’s a bit finicky. Just something to keep in mind next time you lose any kind of online functionality; check your settings and see if any of your data settings are disabled.
