I place a comment on the YouTube video about this problems and asked SimHanger to bring this up if he does further reviews of the LoupeDeck and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
As the sales page now clearly states that Loupedeck needs manual installation I have bought the package. Those are too beautiful to miss out .
I will use your instructions above to get them uploaded too Loopedeck.
Calibx will maybe provide a way in the future to change the icons on his nice plugin project!
Looking good for the future.
No I haven’t tried that. What double/triple action are you trying to do. Give me an example so I can try.
I did find a way to use the icon city icons without installing them to the Icon Library. Although they are much nicer when installed. This is what it looks like when installed.
When adding a shortcut action or something else, you see that on the lower right there is that icon for New Keyboard. When you click it the big window to the left opens. The second button from the left is for the installed Icon Libraries and what the previous image represents. The button above it which has the folder allows you to search and get icons from your folders. Once you navigate to the folders, chnage the view to show the icons and then you can select them from there.
Wauw!
That first screenshot with the installed icons is really looking good.
I will try to do it via that way too.
Regarding the double/triple state I see in your example the icons for ‘Altitude Hold’ with AP.
Green = on activated
Red = being deactivated?
Black = deactivated
Not sure about the black/red order but it is something like that. With the standard profile of Calibx you see also a 1 sec in between state color when you switch from on to off.
I figured out the Multi-Toggle, but the LoupeDeck Software I think appears to have a bug. To setup Multi-toggle, press the + key of an unused key and select Multi-Toggle from there you can add the Mult-toggles.
In the image below I setup ALT Z to turn on the AP and SHIFT-ALT-Z to turn it off.
But it’s using the wrong icons. When the AP is on, it shows the off Icon and when off it shows the on Icon. When I go to edit the icons instead of showing what is showing on the Multi-toggle action, it shows the opposite one.
I have changed it several times, but it keeps showing the opposite icon. It is executing the command and turning the AP on and off, but showing the opposite icon.
After you’ve created the multi-toggle, you can just press it on the LoupeDeck software and it will bring it up on the right hand side so you can modify it.
On the top right under Multi-toggle Action it does say Execute actions in steps, so not sure if it’s really trying to always execute all the actions. But, the key press does turn it on and off so not sure if that is the cause of the problem. But if it is, why does it work just with the opposite icon displayed?
I’ll play around with it some more and try to make it work the way it should.
It’s the holidays, and I guess they are off also on Monday for New Year day off. If I haven’t figured out how to get this thing to work, I will open up a problem ticket with LoupeDeck.
Update:
The documentation does state that all actions are executed sequentially, so I guess it’s doing both. But it doesn’t make sense why it does work with and to turn the AP On and Off but alway with the opposite icon. I guess two state toggle is a feature we need to ask loupeDeck to add without the need of using an SDK to do it.
However on the Calibx profile the actions seems to be locked. Probably because it’s programmed.
You have to try his gear button in msfs.
It’s really nice because you see an interstate between gear up and gear down!
I’ve tried to create a new multiple action like you did. But for gear up and down. (And interstate)
But here I’m puzzled.
I used alt+G for gear on and assigned it to the green icon.
I used shift+alt+G for gear off and assigned the black button.
And finally I used ctrl+alt+g for the interstate and assigned the red button.
At this point I not yet changed the default keys in msfs to match the ones I setup in Loopedeck.
Till my surprise the button already worked.
Gear went up with toggle and icon became black. With next toggle indeed nothing happens and icon became red. With next toggle gear went down and icon became green.
(the interstate is indeed useless at this moment.)
I’m wondering how it already worked.
When I looked in msfs keyboard settings I see for toggle gear = G and for gear down = ctrl+G
I have setup now only on and off action without interstate and indeed controls seems to be switched in Loopedeck.
But when you switch the commands yourself in Loopedeck between both actions it won’t even allow a save. Program doesn’t seems to detect a change. For the program it seems to be the same. Strange.
Only way to alter is to delete action 2. Change the opposite key for action 1 and then add action 2 with opposite key. Then it works in msfs.
Yes, it seems that with LoupeDeck without using an SDK and programming at this point can’t read the state of a device, such as something being on or off.
I’ve sent a few messages to LoupeDeck and have also asked for a feature request to search Icon in different packs. Icon City has their icon neatly broken down by categories and that is how I installed them, but they also have a folder of some upgrades and a MISC folder. LoupeDeck has a search function, but it only searches the icon pack you are looking at. I requested for them to add a check mark by the search bar where you can indicate to search all icon packs. Hopefully they add that functionality.
I will also ask for a simconnect functionality, and that way we can possibly see the state of an object. I also have a Stream Deck and on there you can ask it to show different icon base on the state of the device. I have the small 15 key one, the MK2. BTW Icon City did include a nice profile for it and also the 32 key model. But I mostly use one I created using the Flight Tracker plugin. I mostly use it for AP functions and NAV1 mostly for ILS approaches.
Again, let’s see how receptive they are to make changes. This simconnect is more elaborate and not sure if they will want to take on the task. But we might still need the SDK to access simconnect stuff. I downloaded their the LoupeDeck SDK but haven’t installed it yet.
If James wants be to write that Icon Install fro LoupeDeck, I will work with LoupeDeck on their behalf and hopefully we can get a few enhancement done for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
You ever have problems getting back to the main or O button to the left of 1 on the bottom. Most of the time I can’t get back. I even uninstalled the one from the marketplace, which is an older version, and installed the newer version from GitHub and still have the same problem.
I will probably leave a message on GitHub. CaliBx does have a support page on GitHub.
Update:
After updating to the latest version of the MSFS plugin, this problem seems to have gone away. Let’s hope it’s gone forever and not a bug that shows up every now and then.
I got mine a few days ago. After programming it for a couple of days now I find it kind of “muh”.
The control software needs some serious polishing. The logic of the workspaces and using pages is still a mystery to me. My StreamDeck is so much easier to program than this is.
Setting the text for a button is kind of a joke. The number of default icons is a serious oversight on their part. To get the background of a button to be “unassigned”, without an icon, you have to drag the default icon off of the button? That’s just silly. There is no way to delete the default icon? Positioning of the text by hand is a nice feature that the StreamDeck does not have. I do like that! But, it would be nice if it had an automatic center button.
I’ve decided to get a different peripheral to control the Autopilots. I’ll use the Loupedeck for cockpit cameras (zoom, pan, up/down), gear, brake, simple keyboard shortcuts, etc. We have a beautiful cockpit to look at to see the status of everything (data). Having this data displayed on the Loupedeck, for me, is not necessary. So, I have no need for the SimConnect data. That’s just me!
The plus it has over the StreamDeck is the dials. The downside is the clunky software provided. I’ll give it a 6 out of 10 rating for my usage.
I have to agree that the LoupeDeck is not as seasoned as the Stream Deck and still has a way to go. I also have the Stream Deck 15 and find myself using both. But, all along I figured I would use both. My main AP functions are on my Stream along with my radios. I can type the frequency quicker on the Stream Deck than using the rotary button on the LoupeDeck. I only change NAV frequencies for ILS approaches. I have the COM radios setup for AI copilot to change them. That’s what I pay him to do
LoupeDeck does seems responsive. I have sent then a few request and they did answer pretty fast considering the holidays.
I haven’t read at their responses yet, but I will comment on them after I read them.
I like the Loue Deck and think with time their software will become better and it will be nicer to use. Although I’m still in the return window for Amazon, I plan to keep it as I see that it can become much better and I do like a lot of it’s functionality.
I like both of them so my cockpit will always have both, the Stream Deck and the LoupeDeck.
I found a Flight Simulator Icon Pack from https://vivre-motion.com/ which has different versions for Stream Deck and LoupeDeck with the Loupe having a lightly higher resolution.
I’m thinking about getting it. It comes in many different color options.
Just wondering if it the same simconnect isdue with your streamdeck?
Do you also get out of sync when you press a commando via the keyboard instead of the device?
