Low LOD, high draw distance

Is there anyway to increase the draw distance for objects (like trees, buildings, etc.) while keeping the LOD of those objects low? Right now my LOD is normal but the draw distance is low, so, for example, if I’m in JFK I can’t see any buildings in Manhattan until I get very close.
I would like to increase the draw distance to prevent this, but I would also like to keep the LOD low. I don’t even mind if it’s just some weird pyramids instead of buildings, it’s just very jarring to land in LGA and not see anything on the left side but I don’t have good enough hardware to increase everything.

I would also like this; I do a lot of VFR flying around urban areas in sim, and for instance downtown Los Angeles takes a lot longer to come into view than it should; even at Ultra the skyscrapers pop in well after they would be visible multiple pixels high.

Ditto, ditto…I do VFR exclusively and would really like to have the detail!

I’ve wondered if distant buildings could be merely 2D rendered rectangles with perhaps a grey colour which orient themselves towards the eyepoint, and then at some point as these flat objects get closer a transition to a 3D low polygon object takes place and complexity progresses in the normal fashion.
When seen from afar buildings are usually just a grey outline in haze on the horizon and no real detail is discernible.

This really bugs me and I wish there was an answer. Flying low and slow in VR I am getting a lot of scenery popping in as I get closer. I had terrain LOD set to 100 but have now bumped it up to 200 to see if it makes a difference. It does seem logical to me to separate “draw distance” from “level of detail” but maybe I am missing something.

I’m new to the sim but I thought the DEPTH OF FIELD setting was draw distance. I guess I am confused?
