Bit random, but I am having a problem in that whatever aircraft I use, the magneto key switch keeps flicking on and off, also the instrument screens switch off on occasions. I have checked all my control settings, which only has the default keyboard imput. I cannot switch magneto with keyboard or with mouse directly on the switch, it comes up with the usual left, right arrows, but has no effect.
Any ideas?
After Posting, the forum highlited that some others had the same issue. It works out that if you have the thrustmaster Airbus Stick and quadrant, you have to make sure the engines are turned off on the quadrant. Happy days
Yes they are bugged at the moment badly.
I have the same issue. I moderated it to some extent by using FSUIPC offsets to set magneto switch position.
Asobo probably wanted to simulate automatic return from START to BOTH position, but messed the entire switch behavior as the side effect.
I kind of solved the problem by using the free program MOBIFLIGHT and by creating copy profiles of DEFAULT for ALPHA and BRAVO (but if you have just one works basically just the same) in which I removed completely the buttons/commands assigned to magnetos in default profiles. In Mobiflight I have created several commands.
For people that don’t know Mobiflight and how it works. It works like the software/driver for Logitech/Saitek panels… that means they don’t appear inside MFS as joysticks. The simply send the commands directly to MFS. They simply command: “GEAR UP” and MFS executes. They send this commands when user tells them to by pushing buttons on joysticks etc. That means it doesn’t matter you have removed the commands for GEAR UP in MFS for BRAVO, if you assigned same lever to GEAR UP and DOWN of BRAVO in Mobiflight as GEAR UP and DOWN commands the software will send those commands to MFS and MFS will execute them.
Same with the Mags.
This is how it looks in Mobiflight
If you want the presset to play with it here it is (make sure you rename the file extension from TXT to MCC so Mobiflight can use it:
ALFA BRAVO THROTTLED QUADRANT.txt (10.5 KB)
You can open the file first in Notepadd++ to see it’s legit.
Some more info.
Some commands are F…Up for now. For example. Magneto Left ON is interpreted as Magneto Both On. However if you select the command as (paraphrasing) “G38 Plane_Magneto_Eng_1_Left_On” then it’s accepted and works. That means It doesn’t matter if you are in a Cessna 172 when you use the profile I made the command for Mag Left On is actually send as a command for a different plane but MFS doesn’t bother and executes it correctly this time as opposed to the generic command that fails.
For starter button I also created a duplicate command on Button 34 so When I select Both mags also the Starter is released because in some planes that button is not released automatically.
Also in the profile for twin engine I have used the commands for Cessna 414. And this allowed me to have a profile where the knob for mags on Alpha works in parallel with 4 buttons on Bravo without conflict so I can have just one profile.
Of course… one could delete or modify the parts they don use/like.
