[MAJOR UPDATE][V 1.2] Black Square TBM 850

H: means it’s an event not a var.

Ah ok,

but I think there has to be vars, coouldn´t imagine otherwise. I will ask Nick where to find them. In the Behaviour Tab you sometimes only see a LVAR it was called at least once via code, otherwise it doesnt show.

Maybe this already helps a bit - take a look at this file:

Here I did find vars like L:var_propGovernorFailure", “bool”,

Thank you - I know. I was looking for a way to read out the condition. But this seems not to be possible,

I’m struggling with the same thing. Binding a mixture axis also seems to have no effect.

Edit
SIMCONNECT:SET_FUEL_VALVE_ENG1 to 0 sets it to cut off, and 1 to hi idle. But I haven’t found how to set it to lo idle

Edit2:
Aha:
TURB ENG CONDITION LEVER POSITION:1 this to 1 and the above to 1 is lo ide, this to 2 and above to 1 = hi idle

But it’s not behaving 100%, it’s weird, the quest continues

Two questions about the fuel system.

  1. Is the auto fuel switching based on a simple timer or does it somehow try and balance the tanks ?

  2. When you switch to manual tank selection mode the yellow annunciator for auto select turns on, this seems the opposite to what I expected. is this working as expected ?

Yeah you have pretty much reached the spot I was at yesterday (see my posts above) and I gave up and just bound it in the sim for now so I could actually spend time flying lol. Will probably revist it this weekend if no one has figured it out by then.

No, not the same thing. 930 has a completely different throttle configuration, and the EMER OVRD function is not modelled. But I may use this video for the 930.

The annun is indicating what the normal operation is. So this is correct. Just like Pitot 1 and Pitot 2 illuminate when the switches are off. they should be on for normal operations.

As for the switching, it is a fixed time on the ground. I can’t recall if it is in the air as well. Skimming the POH right now…

EDIT yes it is also time based in the air.
75s on the ground, in the air every 10m

This means you CAN get an imbalance if you for example gun it while its on one side, then slow down while it is on the other.

The POH says to check this regulalry in flight.

Later versions change every 5 minutes but I’m pretty sure the version simulated here is 10 minutes.

Don’t forget also you can switch the tanks manually while keeping the mode in AUTO by pressing the SWITCH push button. So if you see an imbalance, just press it to flip the tanks but keep it in auto. Much safer that way  Because, you know, Humans never forget things…

Anyone can share there Thrustmaster TCA settings for the controls…?

I can’t get it right and it’s unflyable at the moment based on the settings

Yeah … this is the right place. Thanks a lot for your help. In addition Lorby found a solution for that problem. He ist great.

Another good AC from BS (bought it yesterday after previously having bought their King Air, Bonanza and Baron)).

It’s good but I wonder if the flight model needs tweaking a bit? I would especially like a bit more heaviness to the flight model which I can’t seem to get despite a lot of tweaking of my Honeycomb Yoke settings. Full disclosure: I am not a real life pilot but instinctively the flight model to me doesn’t seem quite there yet. In comparison the A2A Comanche felt ‘right’ from the start and so, for me, did the BS King Air.

Hey,

does anyone know a trick to show the copilot? I’m not used to fly alone.

If all else fails have your partner sit next to you whilst you sim. Probably not such a good idea though when you are trying out a load of newly purchased addons.

Comparing to A2A is unfair… I mean I’d love everything to be up to that standard but A2A literally built their own flight model from the ground up EXTERNALLY to MSFS. Not a single other aircraft in MSFS comes to that level.

Is the 850 a bit weak on the FM side? Yes. Most everything that uses the Asobo internal system is sadly, and I’m sure Black Square will tweak things as bets they can over time.

Me I enjoy the aircraft for its systems.

Point taken but I also mentioned the BS King Air which, to me, felt about right too. It had a heaviness to it which doesn’t seem to be there with the TBM. I also quite liked the BS flight model for the Bonanza too.

Not really expecting the flight model to be quite up there with the Comanche but I just wonder if it needs tweaking a bit. Maybe I’m wrong and need to do a bit more tweaking of the HC settings but rightly or wrongly I’m not totally convinced at the moment :+1:

DOes blackSquare have a Facebook page or Discord server?

Black Square has done it again, think its possible to get an older ATR variant lol?

Here are my thoughts FWIW after about 3 hours in the airplane. Keep in mine I am generally very critical, and buy pretty much any good addon that is released. Overall it seems good! This is not a cheap airplane though, so I will be quite critical based on that.

  1. Flight model could definitely use some work. It feels light, gets slammed around by turbulence… floats like crazy on landing which would not happen IRL with the prop discing. Lack of torque and P factor has also been detailed here.

  2. No animations to my eyes on the De Ice boots? Come on… Even the default has that.

  3. No chocks, covers etc…

  4. Basically default sounds with a few others added… why not do a custom sound set? Lots of TBMs out there.

  5. Stock camera views are not good especially in VR. Some alternate ones were shared here that work very well.

  6. Cannot get Fuel state saving to work for me.

  7. If you set the trim in the green take-off area, it is WAY nose down… not accurate… but this is the same as the default airplane which makes me wonder more about the flight model.

  8. Some of the 3d modelling lacks detail or texture. Mostly down by your feet, the pedals etc. Textures can look a bit washed out.

Hopefully some of this can be fixed in updates, other than that I will enjoy until the M500 comes out which looks to be a real innovation.

I will just say, recording and engineering high quality sounds and working with WWISE is not an easy thing and requires specific skillsets which Black Square might simply not have. It isn’t a simple as just going out and recording some sounds at your local airport.

Everythign else I agree with

Well, the King Air is a larger and heavier aircraft, so the TBM should feel lighter.
