Commercial Airline flights are booked at the airports months ahead.
Plan a flight. Request download of all the route. Leave the machine receiving and make a coffee.
Return to your machine after 30 mins break and you can take your flight.
Scenery info is deleted at finish of flight.
Having realised like MS this week the amount of bandwidth required to for 2024 i seriously doubt my fibre to cabinet of 76mb downstream will ever cope comfortably with 2024 cloud architecture. Therefore, I have concluded the product is useless to me unless a download option identical to 2020 is added. I note some parts can be downloaded already, but this option is unavailable due to the marketplace being offline. I donât believe even if available to base game can be locally installed at the same level as 2020. I would like to request this option be added asap, with the added rationale that if the option existed now many could be playing.
I along with many other people are in disbelief that 2024 customers are being forced to stream addons from the the early days of 2020 that no longer work and conflict with the new sim. Wouldnt letting us choose the addons we stream lighten the load on the strugglimg servers? I donât want to stream 95% of my marketplace purchases which will lighten the load on the servers. Seems like a win-win to me
I made the below topic 18 months ago when I heard the cloud plans, hoping this would be early enough in the dev cycle to have a chance of being included but it seems not Hopefully they can still work on this post launch.
I just read through your post. You saw this coming a mile away. I wish I would have seen your post back when you made it as I definitely would have voted. I always thought that the increased reliance on streaming was a bad idea but I figured maybe the devs know something I donât, so I wanted to give it a chance before coming to a conclusion.
So I just found a group in the Library called âBase Contentâ and under that content is a whole list of base items. They have aircraft that are labeled â717-200 Boeingâ, â737 Family Boeingâ, â757 Family Boeingâ and loads of others for different types of airplanes (E170 and E190 are here too). They also have airports, scenery, and even the animals here as well.
So it appears all of that content which was previously in folders is now in the Library. This may have been available in 2020 for PC users, but was never exposed for XBox users so it looks like we will be able to download those items to the sim now too.
Iâd assume PC users will see those things in their folders once downloads are turned on and you can install them directly.
the sim now lets you in and start a flight, but the whole thing feels laggy and off as if you were trying to play on your computer from a remote pc which is exactly whatâs happening here, even trying to move the mouse accross feels laggy and painfully slow and I have a pretty fast connection (100 mbps) and a decently fast PC.
I have 3 2TB SSD dedicated to Flight Sim, I wish there was a local install instead of a streaming only version of FS2024. It would free up so much server traffic and solve a lot of issues.
This is so true. I barely get 60 Mbps is my country. Not desirable conditions. But still bought the aviator edition, having to wait for hours for everything to load. Id rather download everything even if it takes days, rather than waiting, each time i wanna flyâŠ
Dear MS/Asobo please bring us the large client back
I am very grateful to the team for all the efforts that have been made since the release of MSFS 2020. But the release of MSFS was completely messed up.
It is now the fourth day since the release of 2024. Unfortunately there are still huge streaming problems.
As soon as it was announced that the 2024 client would be significantly reduced in size, I had major concerns that streaming so much data could only cause problems. There were already frequent server issues in 2020.
Now, after four days, I am at least able to start 2024, but the flight loading is a disaster. Streaming the data is extremely slow. Photogrammetry doesnât load at all. The planes are re-streamed whenever you go into the settings to change control settings.
Even the aircraft thumbnails in the menu are re-streamed every time. How could they come up with something like this?
Actually, it was always said in the developer streams that the client would be 30GB in size. Now itâs even only 12GB. I think the reason the client was made so small was for the Xbox users. We PC users donât have any issues with disk space.
Itâs quite obvious that if all the data is constantly being streamed, everything runs much worse than if the data were downloaded once at the first installation and doesnât need to be reloaded from the servers all the time.
MS/Asobo, I beg you, please give us the option to install large data packages. I can assure you that my SSD is much faster than your server.
Weâve all been waiting so long for the release. You must understand that so many users are now disappointed. You can fix this by bringing back the large offline data packages.
I agree, I believe the client was made thin to further support consoles as well, which is fine. I believe in inclusivity, but like you said, there needs to be the option to download additional content to prevent things like the plane being reloaded back into the sim every time you access the menu.
Make steaming-only as optional for those who want it but
Allow downloads for those who want it to avoid the streaming problem
Fix rolling catch bug that we had since 2020. Same bug Were one bad âitemâ or âcodeâ gets cached and we need to delete entire rolling cache to stop the stuttering.
Remove the requirement for online connectivity to get in & fly. Let those who downloaded needed content into the game regardless if xbox servers are online or offline.
Above will release a bunch of unnecessary load on servers.
